Method and device for monitoring an electrical load connected to a power supply, with first and second current paths, each having an actuating element, the current transmission capacity of which is alterable by an actuating signal, wherein the operating state of each actuating element is characterized by a voltage drop and the actuating signal. An open-loop control device is configured to activate the actuating elements, at least at measuring intervals spaced apart from one another in time, and evaluate values of the electrical variables obtained for detecting a malfunction of the actuating element, wherein one of the two variables is held at a prescribed value, and the values of the other variable are correlated with one another. A field-effect transistor is activated such that the transistor is not connected through, but rather that a greater voltage drops across the transistor than would be the case in the connected through state.

Method for monitoring circuit breaker and apparatus and internet of things using the same

A method for monitoring a circuit breaker includes measuring at least two operating condition related parameters of the circuit breaker during operation of the circuit breaker; obtaining first data representing a vector having at least two components respectively representing the at least two measurements of the at least two parameters; judging location of the vector represented by the obtained data with respect to a vector space having an envelope separating healthy and unhealthy status of the circuit breaker, where the envelope has at least one portion of curvature; and generating a signal indicating the health status of the circuit breaker in consideration of the location of the vector if it is outside of the envelope.

A method of monitoring a circuit having load(s) includes receiving normal-mode data from circuit breakers operating in a normal mode, transforming the normal-mode data into first display data, providing the normal-mode display data to a remote user device for display by a GUI of the user device, and receiving an external diagnostics request via the GUI of the user device for selected circuit breaker(s) to enter a diagnostics mode. In response to the external diagnostics request, an internal diagnostics request is sent to the selected circuit breaker(s). Diagnostics-mode data is received from the selected circuit breaker(s), wherein the diagnostics-mode data was obtained by the selected circuit breaker(s) operating in a diagnostics mode responsive to the internal diagnostics request. The method further includes determining second display data as a function of the diagnostic-mode data and providing the second display data to the user device for display by the user device's GUI.

BATTERY ELECTROMECHANICAL SWITCHING DEVICE DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM AND METHODS

The battery system may comprise a first switching device, a first battery electrically coupled in series with the first switching device, a second battery electrically coupled in parallel with the first switching device and the first battery when the first switching device is in a closed position, and a second switching device coupled in series with a load. The control system may be configured to perform diagnostics on the battery system.

Apparatus and method for diagnosing failure of switch unit included in multi battery pack

An apparatus and method for diagnosing a failure of a switch unit included in a multi battery pack. The magnitude of a pack current flowing from each of battery packs connected in parallel to a load is measured, a battery pack whose pack current has a magnitude smaller than the average value by a threshold value or more is identified, and it is determined that an open failure occurs at the switch unit included in the identified battery pack, and the information of the battery pack including the switch unit at which the open failure occurs is output. The internal resistance of each battery pack may be statistically analyzed in order to more accurately diagnose the failure at the switch unit. Thus, an open failure of switch units included in battery packs connected in parallel may be easily and reliably diagnosed in a statistical viewpoint.

A testing system includes a truck carrying a circuit breaker, a fixed contact, and an actuator piston connected to a movable contact. A test platform supports the truck in a contact testing position and includes a sensor circuit mounted on the test platform and positioned under the truck and aligned with the circuit breaker when the truck is on the test platform in the contact testing position. The sensor circuit is configured to acquire displacement data of the actuator piston when the movable electrical contact is moved between the open and closed positions. A controller is coupled to the sensor circuit and configured to receive the displacement data and determine electrical contact erosion within the circuit breaker.

Enhanced tripping solenoid for a miniature circuit breaker

A state of a tripping solenoid in a circuit breaker is determined by a primary coil and a secondary coil wound around a hollow body of a solenoid. The secondary coil is positioned within magnetic coupling distance from the primary coil and is configured to produce a sensing voltage based on the primary coil voltage. A ferromagnetic plunger positioned in the hollow body, is configured to slide axially to a tripped position to trip the circuit breaker when a trip voltage is applied to the primary coil. A plunger position detecting circuit connected to the secondary coil, is configured to detect the position of the plunger in the hollow body of the solenoid based on the sensing voltage. A reduction or absence of the sensing voltage indicates a faulty or broken connection in the primary coil.
