Systems and method for AIS transponder integration with ILS/VOR receivers
A receiver includes an RF module to receive and down convert multiple types of RF signals received from at least one antenna; a communication unit configured to communicate signals with at least one external device; and a processing unit communicatively coupling the radio frequency module with the communication unit. Processing unit receives operation mode selection. When first operation mode is selected, processing unit receives first input signal from antenna via RF module (the first input signal including ILS signal and/or VOR signal) and outputs first output signal based on first input signal to external device. When second operational mode is selected, processing unit receives second input signal from antenna via radio frequency unit (second input signal including AIS signal including data regarding a current location of remotely located transmitting device) and outputs second output signal based on second input signal to external device.
SYSTEM AND COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR MOVING OBJECT DETECTION AND LOCATION DETERMINATION USING DELAY RATE SPECTRUM
A system for detecting a moving object is provided. The system comprises a detector module having a first antenna and a second antenna separated by a baseline distance. The system also comprises a processing module configured to receive a first signal and a second signal from the first receiving antenna and the second receiving antenna, respectively. The processing module is further configured to determine a delay rate spectrum followed by a 2D FFT for the first signal and the second signal based on a cross-correlation function and an observation time period. The delay rate spectrum is then used to detect the moving object and determine its location in terms of latitude and longitude coordinates.
System and Method for Camera and Beacon Integration
A method and system are disclosed that provide integrated detection of spatially distributed events and monitoring of spatially distributed areas. Wireless beacon detection and event reporting by a mobile device are used to provide a management server with location information about events that may require video surveillance. The management server determines if any cameras are appropriate to monitor that location, and directs a camera management server to initiate video surveillance.
POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL ADJUSTMENT BASED ON REPETITIVE SIGNAL PERFORMANCE
A method, at an apparatus, of adapting to repetitive positioning reference signal reception degradation, includes: obtaining positioning reference signal pattern information, indicative of repetitive degradation of reception quality of a positioning reference signal; and transmitting, based on the positioning reference signal pattern information, at least one of: one or more positioning-reference-signal-related configuration parameters to a network entity; or a signal in accordance with the one or more positioning-reference-signal-related configuration parameters to a user equipment.
Communication system determining time of arrival using matching pursuit
A wireless receiver receives location pilots embedded in received symbols and uses the location pilots to detect the first path for every base station the network has designated for the receiver to use in time of arrival estimation. The receiver preferably applies matching pursuit strategies to offer a robust and reliable identification of a channel impulse response's first path. The receiver may also receive and use estimation pilots as a supplement to the location pilot information in determining time of arrival. The receiver can use metrics characteristic of the channel to improve the robustness and reliability of the identification of a CIR's first path. With the first path identified, the receiver measures the time of arrival for signals from that path and the receiver determines the observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) to respond to network requests for OTDOA and position determination measurements.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MITIGATING INTERFERENCE WHEN PHASE RANGING AMONG BEACONS AND TAGS
A communications system, including at least one tag and a plurality of beacons. The tags are configured to detect beacon advertisement messages, initiate a connection with at least one of the plurality of and transmit a Constant Tone (CT) to the at least one of the plurality of beacons. The tag is further configured to determine a location thereof based on the sampled CT from both the beacon and the tag and then report the location via the one of the beacons and/or an access point. Phase ranging mitigation techniques which include hop duplication, hop interpolation and ADC DC offset correction are employed so as to provide more accurate ranging values even in the case where there are many other devices in local proximity and which are competing for use of the same RF channels as those used by the tags and beacons.
WIDEBAND POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL PROCESSING VIA SUB-NYQUIST SAMPLING
Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a band-pass filter of a radio frequency front end (RFFE) of a user equipment (UE) receives an analog radio frequency (RF) signal having a first bandwidth associated with a first sampling rate, the analog RF signal comprising a positioning reference signal (PRS). An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) of the UE samples the analog RF signal at a second sampling rate to generate a digital RF signal representing the analog RF signal, wherein the ADC operates at a second bandwidth lower than the first bandwidth, and wherein the second sampling rate is lower than the first sampling rate by an inverse of a folding factor for the first bandwidth. The digital RF signal is then output to a baseband processor of the UE.
Loran device with interference cancellation and interference canceller device with related methods
A LORAN device may include a LORAN antenna, a LORAN receiver, an RF signal path extending between the LORAN antenna and the LORAN receiver and being subject to ambient RF interference, and an ambient RF interference canceller coupled in the RF signal path. The ambient RF interference canceller may include an ambient RF interference sensor configured to generate an estimated ambient RF interference signal based on the sensed ambient RF interference, and cancellation circuitry configured to cooperate with the ambient RF interference sensor to generate an ambient RF interference cancellation signal based upon the sensed ambient RF interference signal, and add the ambient RF interference cancellation signal to the RF signal path.
Loran device with electrically short antenna and crystal resonator and related methods
A LORAN device may include a housing, and an electrically short LORAN antenna carried by the housing. The LORAN device may have a LORAN receiver carried by the housing and coupled to the electrically short LORAN antenna, and an RF crystal resonator coupled to the electrically short LORAN antenna so that the electrically short LORAN antenna is forced to a resonant condition for a LORAN receive signal.
Location detection using a single beacon
Disclosed is a method of location identification using a single beacon. The method comprises determining a first distance between a beacon and a first sensor, where the first sensor is embedded in a mobile device. It also includes determining a second distance between the beacon and a second sensor, where the second sensor is embedded in the mobile device. The method also includes defining a vector, where the vector has a magnitude equal to the distance between the first and second sensor, and a direction pointing from the first sensor to the second sensor. The method further includes calculating a plurality of potential locations. The method then determines the actual location.
