Selecting optimal directional antenna orientation
10605888 · 2020-03-31 · ·

A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for determining an optimal orientation for a directional antenna in a wireless communications system. Instructions are provided to position a directional antenna in each of a plurality of potential orientations. At each of the potential orientations, a serving node signal power level and a non-serving node signal power level is ascertained, and compared to predefined thresholds. An optimal orientation is selected based on the performed comparisons, among other things. In essence, the optimal orientation is determined based on received signal characteristics ascertained at each potential orientation.

Example techniques relate to playback based on acoustic signals in a system including a first network device and a second network device. A first network device may detect a presence of a user using a camera and/or infrared sensors. The first network device sends, in response to detecting the presence of the user, a particular signal via the first network interface. The second network device receives data corresponding to the particular signal and plays back an audio output corresponding to the particular signal.

Data package preparation

Disclosed in this specification is a method comprising inserting an anti-whitened data portion into a data packet that is to be whitened by whitening to yield a whitened data packet for transmission (44) from a first radio communications apparatus (30) to a second radio communications apparatus (10), the anti-whitened data portion having been determined based on anti-whitening data received (43) from the second radio communications apparatus (10) at the first radio communications apparatus, wherein the anti-whitened data portion is obtainable from a specific data block by anti-whitening, the anti-whitening compensating for the whitening so that the whitened data packet comprises the specific data block in non-whitened form.

ANGLE OF ARRIVAL ESTIMATION IN A RADIO COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

There is provided mechanisms for estimating angle of arrival of a radio signal in a radio communications network. A method is performed by a radio transceiver device. The radio transceiver device comprises an antenna array that, by means of analog beamforming, is configured to shift between at least two phase center locations. The method comprises obtaining measurements of the radio signal as received by the antenna array using two mutually different phase center locations. The method comprises estimating the angle of arrival of the radio signal using the measurements as obtained using the two mutually different phase center locations.

Instructions are provided to position a directional antenna in each of a plurality of potential orientations. At each of the potential orientations, a serving node signal power level is ascertained, and an amount for reducing the transmit power of an uplink signal is determined for mitigating interference to non-serving nodes. An optimal orientation is determined based on the ascertained serving node signal power levels and the determined power reduction amounts for reducing uplink signal interference. In essence, the optimal orientation is determined based on received signal characteristics ascertained at each potential orientation.
