Blocking Driver Texting in Moving Vehicles while Allowing Passengers to Text
20220368795 · 2022-11-17 · ·

Systems and methods are described to block texting for a driver of a moving vehicle while allowing passengers to text. For one embodiment, the GPS position and/or speed of Texting-Capable Devices (TCDs) are compared via local communication (WiFi or Bluetooth) with those of local TCDs. If the position and/or speed track with one or more neighboring TCDs, those TCDs are assumed to be in the same vehicle. Further and via local communication, a TCD can query local TCDs to determine, using Known Acquaintance validation, if a TCD user is known to another TCD user. If so, they are assumed to be in the same vehicle. If one TCD in a vehicle is a registered Driver/Master TCD, then other TCDs in the vehicle (Passenger TCDs) are allowed to text. A TCD submitting a query need only reveal its GPS and/or Known Acquaintance data locally within its immediate vicinity.

A method of passive sensor tracking includes using a Wi-Fi access point that transmits a management frame comprising sensor data of a sensor as part of Wi-Fi wireless network discovery, associating unique identifying information of the Wi-Fi access point with a sensor in a sensor tracking database, receiving observation data of the Wi-Fi access point from a Wi-Fi AP Database, the observation data including the unique identifying information of the Wi-Fi access point and the sensor data of the sensor, and storing the sensor data in the sensor tracking database. The Wi-Fi AP Database receives one or more reports comprising observation data from one or more wireless devices that encounter the Wi-Fi access point.

Measurement systems and methods for fingerprinting positioning

A system, computer software and method for collecting, in addition to position data, additional positioning data in a user terminal served by a communication network. The method includes initiating, by generating a message within the user terminal, collection of the positioning data, where the positioning data includes information based on which a physical location of the user terminal is determined; measuring, by the user terminal, at least one parameter related to the physical location of the user terminal in response to the message; producing, within the user terminal, measurement reports that include the at least one parameter; selecting, within the user terminal, one or more measurement reports that were generated in response to the message generated by the user terminal; reporting the selected one or more measurement reports to an interface within the user terminal; and transmitting, from the interface, the reported one or more measurement reports to an external server or to the communication network.

Apparatus and method for providing a wireless, portable, and/or handheld, device with safety features

An apparatus, including cameras, microphone, speaker, processor, display, touchscreen keyboard, global positioning system, and collision avoidance sensor. Upon detecting a texting, e-mail, operational mode, game or gaming operational mode, or speakerphone, operational mode, the processor activates a camera and the collision avoidance sensor. The display displays a view in front of, or an anticipated travel path of movement of, the apparatus. The processor monitors a location of the apparatus. If the apparatus is outside of the safe area of travel, the processor activates the camera or a second camera to record a picture or video at the apparatus. The processor generates a notification message containing the picture or the video or containing a link to the picture or the video. The apparatus transmits the notification message to a communication device associated with an authorized individual or law enforcement personnel.

Systems and methods for co-localization of multiple devices

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable medium can receive a plurality of localization requests from a plurality of devices, each of the plurality of localization requests comprising sensor data captured by one or more sensors of the plurality of devices. Localization data can be sent to each device of the plurality of devices in response to receiving the plurality of localization requests. A plurality of pose data can be received from a first device and a second device of the plurality of devices. The plurality of pose data can include a position and orientation for each of the first and second devices based on the sensor data and the received localization data. At least one received pose data of the plurality of received pose data can be sent to at least the first device of the plurality of devices. The first device of the plurality of devices can be operable to determine a relative location of the second device in relation to the first device based on the at least one received pose data of the second device.

The disclosure is related to monitoring integrity of cargo in a container on a trans-oceanic voyage and cargo on truck or trains. The method includes determining, by a trigger from at least one remote processor, that the system is activated by a change associated with a bio-element of at least one tag on cargo in a shipping process. At least one environment camera is activated to provide an environment media. At least one data retrieving component is activated to retrieve and to provide data associated with a tracking marker of cargo associated with the container. At least one satellite receiver is activated to receive location information for the at least one local processor. One or more of the environment media, the data, and the location information is packaged for a bit stream. The bit stream is communicated to a remote device.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUPPORTING A LOCATION UNCERTAINTY FOR A SCHEDULED LOCATION

The location of a user equipment (UE) is determined at a scheduled location time based on location measurements for the UE received from one or more other entities. The location measurements are obtained at a plurality of times based on the scheduled location time. An uncertainty of the location that indicates a difference between the location and an actual location of the UE at the scheduled location time is determined and the location and the uncertainty of the location are sent to a requesting entity. The uncertainty of the location is based on a location uncertainty and a time uncertainty relative to the scheduled location time, which are combined into a single location uncertainty.

Method for vessel tracking

A computer-implemented method of tracking vessel movement which comprises receiving a first vessel data message comprising a first vessel identifier, the first vessel data message having been transmitted at a first time and being associated with a first position; and receiving a second vessel data message comprising a second vessel identifier, the second vessel data message having been transmitted at a second time and being associated with a second position. The method also comprises determining if the first vessel identifier and the second vessel identifier are related. If the first vessel identifier and the second vessel identifier are related, a speed required for a vessel to have moved from the first position to the second position is determined; which is then determined if the speed is below a speed threshold; and if the speed is below the speed threshold, the first position is associated with the second position.
