An example computer-implemented method includes compressing at least a first portion of geo-location information attributed to at least a portion of one or more access points; converting at least a second portion of geo-location information attributed to the at least a portion of the one or more access points to one or more polar coordinates; converting the one or more polar coordinates attributed thereto to at least one position on a data structure configured to have one or more predetermined properties; generating at least one compressed access point geo-location data output comprising the compressed at least first portion of geo-location information and the at least one position on the data structure; and outputting the at least one compressed access point geo-location data output to at least one user device.
Positioning assistance data procedures
Disclosed are techniques for performing positioning operations. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) transmits, to a positioning entity, a request for positioning assistance data message, the request for positioning assistance data message identifying a serving cell of the UE and one or more neighboring cells of the UE with which the UE is attempting to perform a positioning procedure, and receives, from the positioning entity, a positioning assistance data message in response to the request.
User Equipment Positioning in Long-Term Evolution Coordinated Multipoint Communication Systems
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for UE positioning in wireless networks. Various embodiments may include signaling of virtual identifiers associated with remote radio heads of a coordinated multipoint communication system and generating a positioning reference signal based on the virtual identifiers. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
DETERMINING POSITION INFORMATION
A mobile device is disclosed. The mobile device may receive one or more wireless local area network (WLAN) signals. The mobile device may determine Channel State Information (CSI) data from the one or more WLAN signals. The mobile device may determine one or more environmental characteristics associated with an environment of the mobile device based on the CSI data. The mobile device may send information indicative of the one or more environmental characteristics to a location server (LS), or determine a position of the mobile device based at least in part on the one or more environmental characteristics, or any combination thereof.
User Equipment, Core Network Node, Radio Network Node and Methods in a Wireless Communications Network
A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for handling positioning of the UE in a wireless communications network is provided. The UE is capable of working in a number of positioning modes for performing measurements for positioning of the UE. The UE receives (503) from a radio network node operating in the wireless communications 5 network, a configuration to operate in a specific positioning mode out of the number of positioning modes, for a certain duration. The UE then performs (504) positioning of the UE according to the configuration based on positioning assistance data from any one out of: the radio network node, and a core network node operating in the wireless communications network.
POSITIONING OF A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE
A method of operating a wireless communication device (101) attachable to a communications network (100) includes receiving a message (6000, 6002) from the communications network (100), the message (6000, 6002) being indicative of a request for a location report (6009) of the wireless communication device (101), and upon receiving the message (6000, 6002) and based on a positioning measurement, transmitting an uplink message (6003) of a random-access procedure (600) of the wireless communication device (101), the uplink message (6003) comprising the location report (6009).
INFORMATION COMMUNICATION METHOD AND DEVICE
Disclosed are an information transmission method and device, for determining positioning reference signal resource configuration information and a positioning technical scheme by means of a negotiation process between a positioning server and other nodes, so as to avoid that neighboring base stations may send positioning reference signals on the same time and frequency resources, causing the positioning reference signals of neighboring base stations to interfere with each other, resulting in the degradation of downlink positioning measurement performance, and to enable each base station to optimize the configuration of the positioning reference signal according to the positioning performance requirements of a terminal, thereby improving the positioning performance. The information transmission method provided by the present application comprises: determining positioning reference signal resource configuration information and a positioning technical scheme by means of a negotiation process between a positioning server and other nodes; and notifying the other nodes of the positioning reference signal resource configuration information and the positioning technical scheme.
POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL CONFIGURATIONS FOR CO-LOCATED TRANSMISSION RECEPTION POINTS
Positioning for user equipments (UEs) in a wireless network is supported by restricting position reference signal (PRS) configuration parameters for a Transmission Reception Point (TRP) based on PRS configuration used by co-located TRPs. The PRS configuration parameters for the TRP may be restricted by restricting orthogonality of the PRS resources with respect to PRS resources from co-located TRPs to only code division multiplexing, and other types of orthogonality such as time division multiplexing and frequency divisional multiplexing are not permitted for co-located TRPs. The PRS configuration parameters for the TRP may be restricted to the same muting sequence type, e.g., inter-instance and/or intra-instance muting, as used by co-located TRPs. The PRS configuration parameters, e.g., related to orthogonality and/or muting, are not restricted with respect to non-co-located TRPs. The restrictions on the PRS configuration parameters for a TRP may be determined by a central authority, such as a location server.
BEAMFORMING AND POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL TRANSMISSIONS
A method of operating a network node (140) of a network (100) is provided. The network (100) comprising a first access node (191) and at least one second access node (192-195). The method includes establishing a first state of one or more first beams (71-78) of a first transmission between the first access node (191) and a mobile device (90). The method further includes determining whether a certain one of one or more second beams (71-78) of a second transmission between the at least one second access node (192-195) and the mobile device (90) is to be activated, based on the first state and a predetermined mapping (51) between the first state and a second state of the one or more second beams (71-78), the second transmission comprising positioning reference signals (3056).
Inter-radio access technology positioning measurements in new radio systems
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe signaling of positioning measurement indications or measurement gap requests. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
