Gesture Recognition Using Multiple Antenna
Various embodiments wirelessly detect micro gestures using multiple antenna of a gesture sensor device. At times, the gesture sensor device transmits multiple outgoing radio frequency (RF) signals, each outgoing RF signal transmitted via a respective antenna of the gesture sensor device. The outgoing RF signals are configured to help capture information that can be used to identify micro-gestures performed by a hand. The gesture sensor device captures incoming RF signals generated by the outgoing RF signals reflecting off of the hand, and then analyzes the incoming RF signals to identify the micro-gesture.
Area-selective radar detection
A method of radar detection of targets in an environment, comprising cyclically obtaining a detection profile that associates with each position in the protected area an amount of radar signal that has been reflected, and detecting targets from the detection profile in different modes. A base mode is used for a first series of cycles and is insensitive to motionless targets and sensitive to dynamic targets that move between different locations in the protected area. When the base mode detects a target, two additional modes are started, which are active in different areas. In first areas, a fine movement detection mode is used, which also neglects motionless targets and may be more sensitive than the base mode. In second areas, a presence mode detects both dynamic and motionless targets. When neither the presence mode nor the fine movement mode detects any target for a sufficient time, no people in danger are deemed to be present in the area and the base mode may be restored.
MULTI-USER INTELLIGENT ASSISTANCE
An intelligent assistant records speech spoken by a first user and determines a self-selection score for the first user. The intelligent assistant sends the self-selection score to another intelligent assistant, and receives a remote-selection score for the first user from the other intelligent assistant. The intelligent assistant compares the self-selection score to the remote-selection score. If the self-selection score is greater than the remote-selection score, the intelligent assistant responds to the first user and blocks subsequent responses to all other users until a disengagement metric of the first user exceeds a blocking threshold. If the self-selection score is less than the remote-selection score, the intelligent assistant does not respond to the first user.

Systems and Methods for Using Ultrawideband Audio Sensing Systems
Systems and methods for simultaneously recovering and separate sounds from multiple sources using Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) signals are described. In one embodiment, a device can be configured for generating an audio signal based on audio source ranging using ultrawideband signals. In an embodiment the device includes, a transmitter circuitry, a receiver circuitry, memory and a processor. The processor configured to generate a radio signal. The radio signal including an ultra-wideband Gaussian pulse modulated on a radio-frequency carrier. The processor further configured to transmit the radio signal using the transmitter circuitry, receive one or more backscattered signals at the receiver circuitry, demodulate the one or more backscattered signals to generate one or more baseband signals, and generate a set of data frames based on the one or more baseband signals.
Search and rescue UAV system and method
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) having at least one sensor for detecting the presence of a survivor in a search and rescue area. The at least one sensor is preferably an ultra-wide band (UWB) transceiver sensor. The UAV includes a UAV data link transceiver for wirelessly communicating information concerning the survivor to a command center.
MMWAVE SENSING FOR CABLE IDENTIFICATION
A sensing system for identification of at least one cable is provided. The sensing system includes a transceiver and a controller. The transceiver is configured to transmit mmWave signals and receive reflected mmWave signals. The controller is in communication with the transceiver. The controller is configured to direct the transceiver to transmit the mmWave signals. The controller is further configured to process the reflected mmWave signals and identify highly reflective-to-mmWave material identification markings associated with the at least one cable from the processed reflected mmWave signals.
Precursor based penetrating radar system
Various examples are provided related to penetrating radar based upon precursors. In one example, a method includes transmitting a radio frequency (RF) signal; and receiving a return signal associated with the RF signal, where the return signal is a precursor having no exponential decay. The precursor can be one of a sequence of precursors, which can be used to improve resolution of the system. The RF signal can be a short pulse generated by an RF front end, without automatic level control. The return signal can be processed without filtering.

System and method for detecting object patterns using ultra-wideband (UWB) radar
A system includes an ultra-wideband (UWB) array having a transmitter that transmits electromagnetic waves as UWB pulses toward a region-of-interest (ROI), and having a receiver that receives reflected electromagnetic waves from objects in the ROI and generates object data, and a pattern recognition device having a processor configured to provide operations. The processor is configured to provide instructions that obtain scanning data from reflected electromagnetic waves from the ROI until an event is triggered, when the event is triggered, access a heuristic created from calibration data that was previously obtained using the ROI and using the UWB array, analyze the scanning data with the heuristic utilizing a pattern recognition function derived from the calibration data, to determine whether an object-of-interest (OOI) pattern is recognized within the scanning data, and if an OOI pattern is recognized, generate an alert.
