The present invention relates to an image sensor and to an imaging system comprising the same. The present invention particularly relates to X-ray image sensors and imaging systems. The image sensor according to the invention comprises a pixel array that includes a plurality of active pixels arranged in a matrix of rows and columns, and a plurality of column lines to which outputs of pixels in the same column are coupled for the purpose of outputting pixel signals. The image sensor further comprises readout circuitry that includes a plurality of readout units, each readout unit being configured for reading out a respective column line through an input node of the readout unit. The image sensor is characterized in that the image sensor further comprises capacitive units, such as capacitors, for capacitively coupling each input node to its corresponding column line.

A detector may be provided with an array of sensing elements. The detector may include a semiconductor substrate including the array, and a circuit configured to count a number of charged particles incident on the detector. The circuit of the detector may be configured to process outputs from the plurality of sensing elements and increment a counter in response to a charged particle arrival event on a sensing element of the array. Various counting modes may be used. Counting may be based on energy ranges. Numbers of charged particles may be counted at a certain energy range and an overflow flag may be set when overflow is encountered in a sensing element. The circuit may be configured to determine a time stamp of respective charged particle arrival events occurring at each sensing element. Size of the sensing element may be determined based on criteria for enabling charged particle counting.

In the photon counting circuit for counting, for each pixel, electrical charges generated depending on photon energy of radiation applied to an object, a pixel is divided into a plurality of subpixels. When N is a natural number, a threshold value of each of the subpixels is selected from among top N discrete values of a plurality of discrete values arranged in order of proximity to a target threshold value corresponding to the photon energy so as to minimize a difference between the target threshold value and an average of the threshold values of the respective subpixels included in the pixel.

The abnormality data includes location data and classification data for each of the plurality of abnormalities. Text describing each of the plurality of abnormalities is generated based on the abnormality data. The abnormality data and the text is transmitted to a client device. A display device associated with the client device displays the abnormality data in conjunction with the medical scan via an interactive interface, and the display device further displays the text via the interactive interface.
