SUBSURFACE SEISMIC DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A seismic deployment system having a deployment apparatus, a tow line, and a carrier line having a plurality of seismic sensor coupled therealong. The deployment apparatus has a hydrodynamic body. The tow line is configured for towing the hydrodynamic body through a water column. The carrier line is engaged with the deployment apparatus. The deployment apparatus is configured to control tension in the carrier line for deployment of the seismic sensors while the hydrodynamic body is towed through the water column by the tow line.
SHIP-TOWED HYDROPHONE VOLUMETRIC ARRAY SYSTEM APPARATUS
This invention provides a system apparatus and method for ship-towed deployment of a non-linear volumetric array of hydrophones, allowing line-intersect or line-transect sampling of marine mammal populations through passive acoustic monitoring, enabling unambiguous real-time three-dimensional localization of single sounds received through a low-cost, modular, robust, stable, small, light, neutrally to slightly negatively buoyant volumetric array having low self-noise and low flow noise, that avoids putting high tension on the tow cable and that is compatible with standard hydrophones, instrumentation, cabling, and analytical software.
A MARINE CABLE DEVICE ADAPTED FOR THE PREVENTION OF FOULING
The present invention provides a marine cable device configured for preventing or reducing biofouling along its exterior surface, which during use is at least temporarily exposed to water. The marine cable device according to the present invention comprises at least one light source configured to generate an anti-fouling light and at least one optical medium configured to receive at least part of the anti-fouling light. The optical medium comprises at least one emission surface configured to provide at least part of said anti-fouling light on at least part of said exterior surface.
Seismic sensor alignment preserver
Disclosed are apparatuses, systems, and methods for urging matching rotational orientations of geophysical sensors in a marine geophysical streamer. An embodiment discloses a marine geophysical streamer comprising a jacket; spacers disposed longitudinally within the jacket, the spacers containing geophysical sensors; and an alignment preserver disposed within the jacket, the alignment preserver encompassing at least a portion of each of the spacers and configured to urge matching rotational orientations for the geophysical sensors.
LINE ARRAY WINDING AND DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM
A packed sensor line array system includes sensors mounted outboard of cable packs wrapped around a central mandrel. The system may have multiple rows (layers) of the sensors and cable packs, surrounded by a cannister. Cable retainers may be used to retain cable ends near sensors, to keep the cable ends out of the way of subsequent winding operations. The winding may be done in situ, with the mandrel mounted to a rotatable chuck that is rotated to wind the individual cable packs sequentially around the mandrel, with positioning of the sensors outboard of the windings occurring between the winding operations. A positionable indexing tool may be coupled to and moved along the mandrel, to define a space along the mandrel for each cable pack winding.
FAST POWER ON METHOD FOR MARINE ACQUISITION STREAMER
A method for automatically propagating a voltage along a marine seismic streamer, the method including detecting, at an ith concentrator of the streamer, a first voltage applied at a first high-voltage rail HV1; detecting, at the ith concentrator of the streamer, a second voltage applied at a second high-voltage rail HV2, the first and second high-voltage rails extend over the entire streamer; checking a predetermined condition at a first local controller of the ith concentrator; and closing a first switch SW1, which propagates the first high-voltage rail HV1, when the predetermined condition is satisfied.
Two-axis sensing element
Apparatus and techniques are disclosed relating to a two-axis sensing element. In various embodiments, a two-axis sensing element includes a mounting plate that includes a first pair of mounting slots oriented in a first direction and a second pair of mounting slots oriented in a second, different direction. Further, in various embodiments, the two-axis sensing element may include a first pair of bender elements and a second pair of bender elements. The first pair of bender elements may be mounted through the first pair of mounting slots such that the first pair of bender elements is oriented in the first direction and the second pair of bender elements may be mounted through the second pair of mounting slots such that the second pair of bender elements is oriented in the second, different direction. In various embodiments, the mounting plate may transect each of the bender elements into two cantilever portions.

Adjustable sensor streamer stretch section for noise control for geophysical sensor streamers
A sensor streamer stretch section. At least some of the example embodiments are methods including measuring at least one parameter related to noise while towing the sensor streamer through a body of water with a towing vessel, and adjusting at least one of a spring constant and a damping coefficient of a stretch section disposed proximate the sensor streamer such that the measured parameter is minimized.
Seismic detection line having identified element and method
A seismic detection line includes one or more identified element(s) arranged in a string, and a telemetry link connecting the element(s) along the string to convey seismic data from at least one of the element(s) to a data recorder and identification data to a topology controller. Each of the element(s) includes a respective first identification unit connected to the telemetry link to provide a respective first identifier to the topology controller. A seismic detection system also includes a processor that queries the identified element(s) for their respective identifiers, determines an arrangement of the seismic detection line using the received identifiers, and presents an indication of the determined arrangement. A method of operating a seismic detection line includes transmitting a query along the telemetry link, detecting whether the respective identifier of one of the element(s) was received or not, repeating until termination, and determining and indicating the arrangement.
