11327188 · 2022-05-10 · ·

A computer-implemented method can include the following. Seismic vibratory waves through the Earth along a selected vector path are received. An initial value is selected for a first arrival for each of the seismic vibratory waves. Initial values are determined for travel times and velocities of the seismic vibratory waves. Reversed signs of amplitudes of the seismic vibratory waves are determined and corrected. Time intervals are determined based on the initial values of the travel times. Time windowing and filtering in a frequency domain are performed. Final values are determined for first arrivals and travel times for each of the seismic vibratory waves based on the time windowing and filtering. Final values are determined for velocities of the seismic vibratory waves.

Correction of source motion effects in seismic data recorded in a marine survey using a moving source

Processes and systems are described for generating an image of a subterranean formation from seismic data recorded during a marine survey that employed a moving vibrational source. Processes and systems compute an up-going pressure wavefield from pressure data and vertical velocity data recorded in the marine survey. A direct incident downgoing vertical velocity wavefield that includes Doppler effects created by the moving vibrational source and characterizes a source wavefield and source ghost of the moving vibrational source is computed and deconvolved from the upgoing pressure wavefield to generate a subsurface reflectivity wavefield. The subsurface reflectivity wavefield is effectively free of contamination from the source wavefield, the source ghost, and the Doppler related effects. Processes and systems generate an image of the subterranean formation based on the subsurface reflectivity wavefield, thereby enhancing resolution of the image by attenuating the source-motion effects, source signature, and source ghost of the moving vibration source.

Post-stack time domain image with broadened spectrum

A computer system receives a post-stack time-domain image having a first spectrum and representing one or more subsurface structures. The computer system reconstructs an increased-frequency version of the post-stack time-domain image using L0-constrained inversion and a least-squares mismatch ratio. The increased-frequency version of the post-stack time-domain image includes structural artifacts. The computer system removes the structural artifacts from the increased-frequency version of the post-stack time-domain image using singular value decomposition. The computer system combines the increased-frequency version of the post-stack time-domain image with the post-stack time-domain image using a weighting function. The computer system generates a combined version of the increased-frequency version of the post-stack time-domain image and the post-stack time-domain image. The combined version represents the one or more subsurface structures and has a second spectrum broader than the first spectrum.

Methods, apparatus, and systems for mapping surface and near surface features and processing artifacts from stacked and processed seismic data are disclosed. In some implementations, a computer system receives a three-dimensional (3D) seismic cube including seismic reflectivity data obtained at a geographical location. The computer system generates a vertical analysis window of the 3D seismic cube. The computer system extracts a second 3D seismic cube from the seismic reflectivity data based on the vertical analysis window. The second 3D seismic cube has multiple vertical amplitude traces associated with the seismic reflectivity data. The computer system generates 3D data comprising multiple frequency traces from the multiple vertical amplitude traces using a domain transform. The computer system generates a two-dimensional (2D) map from the 3D data. The 2D map represents geographical features of the geographical location.
