SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FIBER OPTIC BASED VEHICLE-DIRECTION DETECTION
A device may receive fiber sensing data identifying vehicles traveling on a roadway associated with a fiber optic network and location data identifying geographical locations of the vehicles traveling on the roadway. The device may process the fiber sensing data, with a machine learning model, to identify a particular vehicle, of the vehicles, that is traveling in a wrong direction on the roadway. The device may process the location data, with the machine learning model, to identify locations of the roadway, a cellular network associated with the roadway, and vehicle devices of the vehicles traveling on the roadway, other than the particular vehicle, and a nearest camera device to the particular vehicle. The device may perform one or more actions based on the locations of the roadway, the cellular network associated with the roadway, and the vehicle devices of the vehicles traveling on the roadway, other than the particular vehicle.
Distributed sensing system for network cable systems
A monitoring system is disclosed herein that is configured to utilize a distributed sensing system to monitor both a cable and cable accessories included within a cable circuit. In various embodiments, the monitoring system may include a distributed sensing system and one or more cable accessory wrap assemblies. The distributed sensing system may include a distributed sensing fiber following (or integrated into) the cable and connected to a cable accessory wrap assembly for each of the one or more cable accessories in-line with cable. In various embodiments, each cable accessory wrap assembly may comprise a cable wrap embedded with a distributed sensing fiber. The distributing sensing fiber of a cable accessory wrap assembly may be configured to provide measurements to distributed sensing system indicating that an anomaly event occurred at a given cable accessory.

Subsurface strain estimation using fiber optic measurement
Strain and time-strain measurement in a well enables derivation of a constant that links the two. Knowledge of the constant along with time-strain measurement at another well enables estimation of strain at the other well.

DISTRIBUTED ACOUSTIC SENSING SYSTEM WITH PROPAGATION DIRECTION AND RELATED METHODS
A DAS system may include an OTDR, and acoustic-sensing optical fibers coupled to the OTDR. The acoustic-sensing optical fibers may have known relative positions within an acoustic wave transmitting medium. The DAS system may also include a processor cooperating with the OTDR to determine a propagation direction of an acoustic wave from an acoustic event in the acoustic wave transmitting medium based upon the known relative positions of the acoustic-sensing optical fibers.
