ACTIVITY SPECIFIC CONTACT LENSES
Contact lenses are provided with tints that enhance performance and are shaped to permit wearing by individuals who are unfamiliar with contact lens handlings. With suitable contact lens shapes, applying and removing the contact lenses is simple, and providing tints on a contact lens permits using more transmissive tints than would be needed for spectacles or goggles. In addition, using tinted contact lenses avoids some of the physical limitations and problems associated with spectacles and goggles.
Oxygen permeable scleral contact lenses using patterned air cavities
A contact lens has a core thick enough to accommodate a payload. The lens further has outer and inner coverings that cover parts of the core. Each covering is a thin layer of gas-permeable material shaped to form a respective cavity between the covering and the core. Oxygen passes through the outer covering to the outer cavity, through an air path within the core to the inner cavity, and through the inner covering to reach the cornea of the wearer's eye. To increase oxygen flow, a patterned structure is formed at an interface between the core and at least one of the outer and inner covering, comprising supports at which the core and covering contact, and recesses forming the cavity between the core and covering for oxygen flow. The outer and inner coverings may be made from different types of gas-permeable materials having different levels of gas-permeability and brittleness.

Robotic navigation of robotic surgical systems
In certain embodiments, the systems, apparatus, and methods disclosed herein relate to robotic surgical systems with built-in navigation capability for patient position tracking and surgical instrument guidance during a surgical procedure, without the need for a separate navigation system. Robotic based navigation of surgical instruments during surgical procedures allows for easy registration and operative volume identification and tracking. The systems, apparatus, and methods herein allow re-registration, model updates, and operative volumes to be performed intra-operatively with minimal disruption to the surgical workflow. In certain embodiments, navigational assistance can be provided to a surgeon by displaying a surgical instrument's position relative to a patient's anatomy. Additionally, by revising pre-operatively defined data such as operative volumes, patient-robot orientation relationships, and anatomical models of the patient, a higher degree of precision and lower risk of complications and serious medical error can be achieved.
Ophthalmic lens and method for manufacturing the same
The invention is to provide an ophthalmic lens comprising a lens body, a polydopamine layer formed on the surface of the lens body and an antimicrobial layer bonded to the polydopamine layer, and manufacturing method thereof, wherein the antimicrobial layer is formed from a copolymer of carboxyl-containing polymer and zwitterionic polymer and a crosslinking agent, and the zwitterionic polymer can be selected from one of the group consisting of phosphorylcholine polymer, sulfobetaine polymer, carboxybetaine polymer and mixed-charge polymer or a combination thereof.
Ophthalmic lens and method for manufacturing the same
The invention is to provide an ophthalmic lens comprising a lens body and an antimicrobial hydrophilic layer thereon and a manufacturing method thereof, wherein the antimicrobial hydrophilic layer comprises a polydopamine layer and a zwitterionic polymer non-covalently bonded on the polydopamine layer, and the zwitterionic polymer can be selected from one of the group consisting of phosphorylcholine polymer, sulfobetaine polymer, carboxybetaine polymer, mixed-charge polymer and a combination thereof.
A SOFT CONTACT LENS AND A PACKAGING COMPRISING SUCH A SOFT CONTACT LENS
A soft contact lens (4) comprises a solid component, which is based on a polymer, and a liquid component which is distributed in the solid component and which comprises at least one compound which is selected from vitamin E, vitamin B2 and the respective derivatives thereof. The contact lens has a degree of transmission of type A ultraviolet radiation greater than 50% and a degree of transmission of type B ultraviolet radiation greater than 20%.
TRANSPARENT POLYMERIC MATERIALS WITH HIGH OXYGEN DIFFUSION CONTAINING DI-FUNCTIONAL POSS CAGES WITH HYDROPHILIC SUBSTITUENTS
A new class of silicone monomers, providing transparent materials and imparting hydrophilic properties have been developed. These materials are incorporated into ophthalmic devices such as soft and rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses. These new silicone monomers include Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane (POSS) with two polymerizable groups and six organofunctional groups. These types of structures incorporate at least two available sites for polymerization allowing for the incorporation of the silsesquioxane cage into the backbone of a macromolecule. Additional functional sites allow the design of specific chemical features which address needed material properties.
