MANAGING CABLES IN FIBER INSTALLATION

A server rack is cabled to obviate the need for top-of-rack switches. Switches and severs are connected through de-mateable connection interfaces at distribution modules disposed along the raceway above the server cabinets. The distribution modules may have externally accessible ports, internally accessible ports, and/or payout spools for the switch cables and/or the server cables.

A method for adhering a tubular body onto a surface that includes smoothing a portion of the surface to create a smoothed segment of the surface and applying a tubular body directly onto the smoothed segment of the surface after the smoothing of the portion of the surface. The surface at the smoothed segment is smoother than the remainder of the surface. The method further includes applying an uncured protectant onto the tubular body while the tubular body is on the smoothed segment of the surface and curing the uncured protectant into a cured protectant while the uncured protectant is on the tubular body on the smoothed segment of the surface. The cured protectant protectively encases and adheres the tubular body to the surface.

TRACK FOR ROUTING AN OPTICAL FIBER

A track system for routing an optical fiber includes a track for selectively retaining the optical fiber therein, a cover piece which is mounted to the track, and a corner piece which is mounted to the track. The track is formed as an elongated member and includes a pair of legs that are spaced apart from each other to define a slot and an internal channel into which the optical fiber is received. The cover piece is mountable to the track to help retain the optical fiber in the track.

Pre-mold assembly for branched optical cable and related method

Embodiments of a pre-mold assembly for a distribution cable having one or more tether cables are provided. The assembly includes a first shell having a first inner surface and a first outer surface, a second shell having a second inner surface and a second outer surface, and a clip that couples the first shell to the second shell. The clip has a first leg configured to engage the first outer surface of the first shell and a second leg configured to engage the second outer surface of the second shell. In an assembled state, the inner surfaces of the shells define a first channel configured to hold the distribution cable. Further, the inner surfaces of the shells define a second channel that originates within the shells. The second channel is angled relative to the first channel and is configured to hold the one or more tether cables.

A multiplexed sensor system includes a control unit in communication with a plurality of sensors. A plurality of optic fibers defines a communication path between the plurality of sensors and the control unit. A multiplexing portion communicates with a plurality of sensors along a common one of the plurality of optic fibers and a protected channel through which at least a portion of the optic fibers are routed. The protected channel at least partially surrounds the optic fibers and shields the optic fibers from an environment outside the protected channel. A cooling flow is provided through the protective channel for minimizing temperature fluctuations within the protective channel. A method is also disclosed.
