FIBER OPTIC CONNECTOR AND ASSEMBLY THEREOF
A factory processed and assembled optical fiber arrangement is configured to pass through tight, tortuous spaces when routed to a demarcation point. A connector housing attaches to the optical fiber arrangement at the demarcation point (or after leaving the tight, tortuous spaces) to form a connectorized end of the optical fiber. A fiber tip is protected before leaving the factory until connection is desired.
Ingress protected fan-out connector and adapter assembly
An integral fan-out connector assembly for fiber optic cables includes a connector housing that provides an integrated fan-out housing and connection adapter. The fan-out connector housing may be configured with a variety of cable adapters, and may be installed as a ‘plug and play’ type solution where it will be ready to accept a feed cable for use when needed.
Safety guard device for modules storing communication lines
A safety device for modules that store windings of communication lines, includes a metallic rod whose ends are configured to receive metallic screws to secure the rod on a base of a given module. End sections of the rod extend to a height at least equal to the height of the stored windings. Intermediate sections of the rod extend in opposite directions from the end sections, substantially parallel to the module base. Outer ends of the intermediate sections at least coincide with the outer periphery of the stored windings. A central section of the rod has opposite ends adjoining the outer ends of the intermediate sections. The central section rises over a path that at least coincides with the outer periphery of the stored windings. The end sections of the rod capture the windings, and the central section prevents them from dropping below the module during a building fire.
INGRESS PROTECTED OPTIC FIBER CONNECTOR HAVING A REDUCED DIAMETER WITH A REMOVABLE RETAINING NUT
An optical connector assembly having an adapter with a first and second end. Either end can accept a connector with a removable, detachable and replaceable coupling nut that when removed, connector outer diameter is substantially reduced, thereby allowing said connector to be inserted through a conduit having an inner diameter substantially less than outer diameter of separable coupling nut.
MULTIFIBER INVISIBLE OPTICAL DROP CABLE AND METHODS FOR ROUTING OPTICAL FIBERS WITHIN A MULTI-DWELLING UNIT
The present disclosure relates to a process by which an optical fiber drop cable is created and routed in a multiple dwelling unit (“MDU”). The optical fiber drop cable is formed with a feeding tool, and the optical fiber drop cable includes a tube having optical fibers enclosed within the tube. The feeding tool creates a slit within the tube through which optical fibers are fed and thereby inserted into the tube along the tube's length. Once the tube exits the feeding tool with the optical fibers enclosed (thereby forming the optical fiber drop cable), the optical fiber drop cable is then routed into an individual dwelling unit of the MDU by a transition assembly including a transition plug and a routing plug that leads an optical fiber from an exterior of the individual dwelling unit to a subscriber termination point in an interior of the individual dwelling unit.
Fiber optic assembly with cable storage arrangement
A fiber optic telecommunications device includes an enclosure defining an interior. A first fiber optic adapter is provided at the enclosure. A spool is provided at an exterior of the enclosure. A fiber optic cable, which includes a first optical fiber, is wrapped around the spool. A first fiber optic connector is mounted at a first end of the first optical fiber. The first end of the first optical fiber is positioned within the interior of the enclosure. The first fiber optic connector is inserted within the first fiber optic adapter. The enclosure and the spool are configured to rotate in unison about a common axis when the fiber optic cable is unwound from the spool.
Fiber access terminal
A fiber access terminal including a first assembly and a second assembly. The first assembly includes a first box body and an optical fiber adapter. The second assembly includes a second box body, an optical splitter, an optical fiber connector, and a plurality of optical fiber adapters. The optical fiber adapter of the first assembly is disposed outside the first box body. The optical splitter is disposed inside the second box body, and the optical fiber connector and the plurality of optical fiber adapters of the second assembly are disposed outside the second box body. A first end of the optical fiber connector is detachably connected to the optical fiber adapter of the first assembly, a second end of the optical fiber connector is connected to an input port of the optical splitter, and each output port is connected to one optical fiber adapter of the second assembly.
CABLE STORAGE ARRANGEMENT
Example telecommunications wall outlets (200) include a base structure (220) and a stationary spool structure (237) extending from the base structure (220). The spool structure (237) includes a hub portion (248) extending between a first wall (238) and a second wall (250). A length of fiber optic cable (190) is coiled about the hub portion (248) between the first and second walls (238, 250). A cover (260) is also provided which covers at least a portion of the spool structure (237). The cover (260) includes a port (266) aligned over the hub portion (248) through which the length of cable can be dispensed from the spool structure (237) by unwinding the cable (190) about the spool structure (237) such that the port (266) revolves around the spool structure (237). Additional embodiments are disclosed.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS MODULE
A telecommunications module defines an interior with separate right and left chambers. An optical component is housed within the left chamber. Signal input and output locations are exposed to the right chamber. The right chamber allows excess fiber to accumulate without bending in a radius smaller than a minimum bend radius. A dual-layered cable management structure is positioned within the right chamber that defines a lower cable-wrapping level and a separate upper cable-wrapping level. The upper cable-wrapping level is defined by a removable cable retainer mounted on a spool defining the lower-cable wrapping level. Cabling carrying the input and output signals are passed between the right and left chambers before and after being processed by the optical component.
Installation of small form factor fibers at user premises
A guide tool device for an optical fiber or cord includes a tool base that mounts on an adhesive syringe. A cord guide head has a flat leading edge, a key removably insertable into a keyway in the tool base, a guide channel for guiding a fiber toward the leading edge, and a tube for receiving an adhesive. An opening in the guide channel communicates adhesive from the tube into the channel, for applying the adhesive along a fiber while it is guided toward the leading edge on the guide head. A fitting is arranged to connect in sealing relationship with a distal end of the syringe, and a flexible tubing is connected between the fitting and the other end of the tube on the cord guide head. When urged toward the distal end of the syringe, the adhesive is communicated into the guide channel in the cord guide head.
