A wellbore device and method for use in downhole operations are provided. The device may comprise a deployment member packaged in a first configuration arranged to be deployed from said first configuration upon deployment of the wellbore device within a wellbore. In some examples, a tool is also provided. The first disposable member may be made of a degradable material, and optionally may be a fibre optic for providing sensing and/or data communication. The tool may be a smart tool.

Optical fibre installation in flexible riser

A method and apparatus for providing a fiber element are disclosed. The method includes the steps of opening a first control valve element (355) at a proximate end region of a first lumen (310) that extends along a flexible pipe (100), opening a first vent valve element (400) at a remote end region of a second lumen (320) that extends along the flexible pipe (100), providing a new fiber element along the second lumen (320) via an opening (350) at a proximate end region of the second lumen (320) and closing the first vent valve element (382) and the first control valve element (355).

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING CABLES, SUCH AS FIBER OPTIC CABLES INCLUDING ASSOCIATED SENSORS, IN TUBULAR STRUCTURES SUCH AS A PIPELINES

A cable installation apparatus includes a drive assembly and a cable assembly, wherein the apparatus dispenses the cable onto and/or into and along the inner surface of a tubular structure while being moved. The apparatus also includes a securing assembly for holding and dispensing a securing material component while the apparatus is being moved along the length of the tubular structure, wherein the securing material component secures the cable to the inner surface of the tubular structure after being dispensed from the apparatus. A cleaning assembly may also be included for cleaning portions of the inner surface of the tubular structure while the apparatus is being moved along the length of the tubular structure and before the cable is dispensed onto and/or into the portions of the inner surface of the tubular structure.

The manifold is provided with a first cable passage at a first longitudinal position and a second cable passage at a second longitudinal position, wherein a releasable pipe segment is present between the first and the second longitudinal positions. It is suitable for use in a pipe, such as a pressure sewer. In use, a cable would be laid through the pipe with the manifold. Thereafter, the releasable pipe segment would be removed from neighboring pipe shells. The cable would be inserted into the cable passages, and a second pipe segment would replace the initial pipe segment.

CARBON FIBER BASED TUBING ENCAPSULATED CABLE

Tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a corrosion resistant metallic alloy. However, pumping during the installation of tubing encapsulated cable is required to overcome the capstan effect of the tubing encapsulate cable inside the coil tubing as the tubing encapsulated cable travels through the coiled up wraps of coil tubing. In an embodiment of the invention the tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a fiber reinforced composite sheath. Because there is little drag between the fiber encapsulated cable and the coil tubing, conventional pumping operations used to install braided wireline into coil tubing may not be required when installing fiber encapsulated cable into coil tubing. Additionally, the smooth outside surface and relatively small diameter of the fiber encapsulated cable are desirable attributes for well intervention work because the smooth surface is more resistant to chemical attack than braided wire while the smooth surface and relatively small diameter provide little viscous drag while fluids are pumped through the coil tubing in the course of intervention operations.
