A head-up display is configured to project an image on a transparent reflection member to cause an observer to visually recognize a virtual image, and includes a display device configured to display the image, and a projection optical system configured to project the image displayed by the display device as the virtual image for the observer. The projection optical system is configured to form an image as an intermediate image, and includes a first lens configured to condense light, and a first optical element configured to diffuse light. The first lens and the first optical element are disposed in this order along an optical path from the display device. The first lens is inclined with respect to a reference beam which is defined as a beam reaching a center of a viewpoint region of the observer and corresponding to a center of the virtual image.

DIFFUSER WITH MAGNET DRIVE

Disclosed embodiments are related to diffuser mechanisms for projector-based systems, such as head-up displays, virtual/augmented reality systems, and the like. A diffuser is provided, which includes a diffuser screen through which emitted laser light is transmitted. The diffuser includes suspension elements oriented perpendicular to the diffuser screen, or has any other orientation that allows or enables diffuser screen movement in a diffuser screen plane. The diffuser reduces speckle and smooths projected images by means of closed-loop circular or reciprocating movement of the diffuser screen in a diffuser screen plane. Other embodiments may be disclosed and/or claimed.

Provided is a head up display (HUD) device in which occurrence of postcard can be reduced. The HUD device causes an image to be visually recognized as a virtual image. The HUD device is provided with: a projector 100 that emits projection light including light indicating an image; a screen 60 which the projection light reaches; and a light shielding part S that shields at least a part of the projection light excluding the light indicating the image. The screen 60 has a display possible region Rc that is a range which the projection light can reach, and a display region Ra to which the image is projected.

System, method, and non-transitory computer readable medium for presenting images on a mobile device. Images are presented by monitoring one or more physical characteristics surrounding the mobile device using at least one sensor, determining a contextual state of the mobile device based on the monitored one or more physical characteristics, selecting an image from a plurality of related images associated with the determined contextual state, generating at least one overlay image from the selected image, and presenting the at least one overlay image with an optical assembly of the mobile device.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to solid optical systems and methods for use in head-worn computing systems. An optical assembly may include multiple elements that are aligned relative to one another and then adhesively bonded together to preserve the alignment in an adhesively bonded optic, wherein the adhesively bonded optic includes at least one internal refractive surface and two or more internal reflective surfaces, and wherein the internal partially reflective surfaces comprise partially reflective surfaces that are protected by other elements in the adhesively bonded optic

Virtual image display apparatus

A light guide member (10) includes three surfaces of a second surface (S12), a fourth surface (S14), and a fifth surface (S15) as two or more non-axisymmetric curved surfaces, and a projection lens (30) includes a lens surface (31a) as a non-axisymmetric aspheric surface. With this, on the light guide member side, even when there is a shape constraint that the first surface (S11) or the third surface (S13) which is a surface contributing to light guide is a flat surface, and correction of asymmetric aberration is limited, it becomes possible to perform sufficient aberration correction as the whole of an optical system including the projection lens. Therefore, the virtual image display apparatus can have a wide viewing angle and high performance, and can be made small and lightweight.

OPTICAL VIEWFINDER FOR COSTUME HEADS
20230176357 · 2023-06-08 ·

A head for a walk-around costume is provided that is adapted for enhanced visibility. The costume head includes an outer shell defining an interior space for receiving a head of a human performer. The outer shell includes an aperture allowing incoming light from an exterior space to enter the interior space, and an eye location for the human performer is spaced apart from the aperture when the head is received in the interior space. To provide an enlarged field of view, the costume head includes an optical viewfinder assembly disposed within the interior space of the outer shell between the aperture and the eye location. The optical viewfinder assembly is adapted for receiving the incoming light and transmitting the incoming light to the eye location to move a viewpoint of the human performer to the aperture to provide a larger field of view of the exterior space.

Scanning display system in head-mounted display for virtual reality

Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for the presentation of images in a head-mounted display (HMD). One HMD includes a screen, a processor, inertial sensors, a motion tracker module, and a display adjuster module. The motion tracker tracks motion of the HMD based on inertial data from the inertial sensors, and the display adjuster produces modified display data for an image frame to be scanned to the screen if the motion of the HMD is greater than a threshold amount of motion. The display data includes pixel values to be scanned to rows in sequential order, and the modified display data includes adjusted pixel values for pixels in a current pixel row of the image frame to compensate for the distance traveled by the HMD during a time elapsed between scanning a first pixel row of the image frame and scanning the current pixel row of the image frame.
