METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION

A method and apparatus for providing information are disclosed. An information providing apparatus includes an output unit configured to output information and a control unit configured to generate first information and second information according to an output mode that is any one mode of a normal mode, a safe mode, or an emotional mode. The output unit controls the first information to be output to a user through the output unit and controls the second information to be output to an outside of the information providing apparatus.

Wavelength stabilization of laser diodes by temperature control

Systems, devices, and methods for providing optical engines and laser projectors that are well-suited for use in wearable heads-up displays (WHUDs) are described. The optical engines of the present disclosure may integrate a plurality of laser diodes (e.g., 3 laser diodes, 4 laser diodes) within a single, hermetically or partially hermetically sealed, encapsulated package. Wavelength stabilization for the laser diodes is achieved by controlling the temperature of the lasers to always be in a particular range of operating specifications which provides wavelength stabilization that meets particular performance criteria. The lasers themselves may be used for temperature control by selectively switching them on to maintain their temperature within a specified range. Alternatively, compact resistive heaters may be positioned proximate the laser diodes to control the temperature of the laser diodes during operation. WHUDs that employ such optical engines and laser projectors are also described. Additionally, optical systems for collimating and shifting light beams are described.

Head-mounted display

A head-mounted display includes a shell, a display generation unit, a processing unit, at least one pressure sensor, and a linkage mechanism. The display generation unit includes at least an optical engine and a mirror connected to the optical engine. The processing unit is electrically connected to the optical engine and the pressure sensor, and the pressure sensor detects an external force applied to the shell and outputs a pressure signal to the processing unit. The linkage mechanism is electrically connected to the processing unit and connected to the display generation unit. The processing unit actuates the linkage mechanism to cause the mirror of the display generation unit to move away from the user's face.

Head worn display integrity monitor system and methods

A head worn display system (e.g., helmet mounted (HMD) display system, and an eye wear mounted display system,) can include a combiner, a head position sensor and a computer. The computer provides symbology in response to first sensor input values associated with the head position. The symbology can be conformal with a real world scene. A monitoring system includes a redundant head position sensor for providing second sensor input values associated with head position. The computer monitors for positional accuracy of the symbology by comparing symbology calculated using the first and second input sensor values or by using an inverse function to compare sensor values.

Movable carrier auxiliary system and brake controlling method thereof

A movable carrier auxiliary system includes a state detecting device, a braking device, an environmental detecting device and an emergency brake controlling device. The state detecting device detects a movement state of a movable carrier. The environmental detecting device includes at least one image capturing module and an operation module. The brake controlling method thereof includes receive the movement state detected by the state detecting device, and deriving an operating distance based on the movement state with the operation module; capture the environmental image with the image capturing module; determine whether there is an obstruction within the operating distance based on the environmental image; automatically actuate the braking device with the emergency brake controlling device when there is the obstruction within the operating distance in the environmental image, thereby to stop the movable carrier within the operating distance.

In a head-mounted display for blocking out an outside world from a user's vision when worn by the user to present a video, an outside world measurement section measures outside world information. A notification information detection section detects whether or not the information measured by the outside world measurement section contains any notification information to be notified to the user. A notification section notifies the user when the notification information detection section detects notification information.

Piloting assistance device capable of displaying an animation, and associated method

A device is provided for assisting in the piloting of a vehicle, in particular an aircraft. The device includes a surface displaying images and a display management unit for images designed to be displayed on the display surface superimposed on a view of the outside landscape. The management unit is capable of commanding the display of piloting information images on the display surface. The management unit is capable of commanding the display, for at least one of the piloting information images, of an animation intended to attract a user's attention to that piloting information image, the animation comprising the display of an alert image and the shrinkage of the alert image.
