A near eye optical display includes a waveguide comprising a first surface and a second surface, an input coupler, a fold grating, and an output grating. The input coupler is configured to receive collimated light from a display source and to cause the light to travel within the waveguide via total internal reflection between the first surface and the second surface to the fold grating; the fold grating is configured to provide pupil expansion in a first direction and to direct the light to the output grating via total internal reflection between the first surface and the second surface; and the output grating is configured to provide pupil expansion in a second direction different than the first direction and to cause the light to exit the waveguide from the first surface or the second surface.
Adjustable waveguide assembly and augmented reality eyewear with adjustable waveguide assembly
An adjustable frame assembly for augmented reality eyewear. The frame assembly includes a face portion for supporting at least one waveguide that creates an eye box, a support rest for supporting the face portion on a user, and a coupling for adjusting the position of the face portion relative to the support rest. This enables movement of the waveguide eye box relative to the support rest to position the eye box in front of the wearer's eyes.
Systems and methods for controlling virtual scene perspective via physical touch input
Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for controlling perspective in an extended reality environment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a non-transitory computer readable medium contains instructions to cause a processor to perform the steps of: outputting for presentation via a wearable extended reality appliance (WER-appliance), first display signals reflective of a first perspective of a scene; receiving first input signals caused by a first multi-finger interaction with the touch sensor; in response, outputting for presentation via the WER-appliance second display signals to modify the first perspective of the scene, causing a second perspective of the scene to be presented via the WER-appliance; receiving second input signals caused by a second multi-finger interaction with the touch sensor; and in response, outputting for presentation via the WER-appliance third display signals to modify the second perspective of the scene, causing a third perspective of the scene to be presented via the WER-appliance.
Measurement method and system
Methods and systems for determining an individual gaze value are disclosed herein. An exemplary method involves: (a) receiving gaze data for a first wearable computing device, wherein the gaze data is indicative of a wearer-view associated with the first wearable computing device, and wherein the first wearable computing device is associated with a first user-account; (b) analyzing the gaze data from the first wearable computing device to detect one or more occurrences of one or more advertisement spaces in the gaze data; (c) based at least in part on the one or more detected advertisement-space occurrences, determining an individual gaze value for the first user-account; and (d) sending a gaze-value indication, wherein the gaze-value indication indicates the individual gaze value for the first user-account.
Display latency reduction
A display device dynamically determines pixel settle times to reduce a display latency. The display device includes a backlight unit (BLU) for providing light for displaying an image, a plurality of pixels for modulating the light provided by the BLU, and a controller circuit for controlling the BLU and the plurality of pixels. The controller circuit determines a settle time from display data for a current display frame and display data for a previous display frame, and turns on the BLU based on the determined settle time. The determined settle time corresponding to an expected amount of time for the plurality of pixel to transition from a first state corresponding to the display data for the previous display frame to a second state corresponding to the display data for the current display frame.
Short distance illumination of a spatial light modulator using an optical element with an aperture
A display device includes a light source, a spatial light modulator, and an optical assembly. The light source is configured to provide illumination light and the spatial light modulator is positioned to receive the illumination light. The optical assembly includes a first reflective surface with an aperture and a second reflective surface that is opposite to the first reflective surface. The optical assembly is positioned relative to the light source so that at least a first portion of the illumination light received by the optical assembly is reflected by the second reflective surface toward the first reflective surface, is reflected by the first reflective surface toward the second reflective surface, and is transmitted through the second reflective surface. A method performed by the display device is also disclosed.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE THAT DISPLAYS A VIRTUAL OBJECT RELATIVE TO REAL SPACE
An information processing device including a display unit, a detector, and a first control unit and a method of using same. The display unit may be a head-mounted display. The display unit is capable of providing the user with a field of view of a real space and a virtual object. The detector detects an azimuth of the display unit around at least one axis and display of the virtual object is controlled based in the detected azimuth.
INTELLIGENT SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING FUNCTIONS IN A COMBAT VEHICLE TURRET
A system for controlling turret functions of a land-based combat vehicle includes: a plurality of image detection sensors for recording sequences of images having an at least partial view of a 360° environment of the land-based combat vehicle; at least one virtual, augmented or mixed reality headset for wear by an operator, the headset presenting the at least partial view of the environment of the land-based combat vehicle on a display, the headset including a direction sensor for tracking an orientation of the headset imparted during a movement of a head of the operator and eye tracking means for tracking eye movements of the operator; a control unit including at least one computing unit for receiving as input and processing: images supplied by the plurality of image detection sensors; headset position and orientation data supplied by the direction sensor; eye position data supplied by the eye tracking means.
