A photochromic ophthalmic lens may comprise a main body comprising an optical zone and a peripheral zone disposed adjacent the optical zone, wherein one or more of the optical zone and the peripheral zone comprises a photochromic dye, wherein the ophthalmic lens has a thickness profile that is configured based on cosmetic appearance associated with a target level of transmission (% T), and wherein at least a portion of the thickness profile is the same across two or more stock keeping units (SKU), each of the two or more SKU having a different target prescription.

METHOD FOR DESIGNING EDGE TO EDGE PHOTOCHROMIC SOFT CONTACT LENSES
20200355941 · 2020-11-12 ·

The disclosure is related to a new soft contact lens with edge to edge photochromic material where geometry of the optical region and the peripheral region of the lens are optimized to give the best cosmetic effect on eye. The vision correction component and the mechanical component of that soft contact lens are designed independently from each other. The design of each component, vision and mechanical, is achieved by the mean of using diffractive optics.

CONTACT LENS WITH IMPROVED, MULTIPLE AND INTEGRATED EFFECTS
20200218086 · 2020-07-09 ·

Contact lenses that comprise a multi-layer design may be utilized to enhance and/or highlight the appearance of the eyes upon which the contact lenses are positioned while maintaining a natural look. These exemplary designs each comprise three layers; namely, a unique limbal design graphic, a unique inner effect graphic and a unique outer effect graphic. The layers may be formed utilizing any number of design elements and design principles. Pearlescent pigments may be incorporated into one or more regions of a cosmetic contact lens to add a shiny, radiant and iridescent appearance thereto. More particularly, mica based pearlescent pigments coated with an oxide, for example, titanium dioxide or iron oxide, incorporated into one or more regions of the contact lens will result in the one or more regions having a natural, wet reflective appearance. Contact lenses comprising designs/colorants/pigments may be utilized to enhance and/or highlight the appearance of the eyes upon which the contact lenses are positioned. These contact lenses comprise a substantially annular shaped clear layer on the front curve surface to completely encapsulate the designs/colorants/pigments within the contact lens. The annular shape provides no clear coat over the optic region thereby ensuring high optical quality.

A contact lens comprising an optically transparent lens body having a concave surface adapted to the patient's eye curvature and a convex surface. The contact lens comprises a light transmitting region and a light blocking region. The light blocking region comprises a plurality of fine holes that are evenly spaced throughout the light blocking region.

Electrochromic contact lens

Embodiments are disclosed of an eye-mountable device (EMD) including a lens enclosure including an anterior layer and a posterior layer sealed to the anterior layer. An anterior electrode is disposed within the lens enclosure on a concave side of the anterior layer, a posterior electrode is disposed within the lens enclosure on a convex side of the posterior layer, and an electrochromic element is disposed across a central region of the lens enclosure, wherein the electrochromic element separates the anterior electrode from the posterior electrode within the central region.

COSMETIC HOLOGRAPHIC WEARABLE OCULAR DEVICES AND METHODS OF PRODUCTION THEREOF
20200132897 · 2020-04-30 ·

Wearable ocular devices (such as ocular prostheses or contact lenses) utilizing diffraction gratings to produce color, as well as methods for producing such devices, are provided. A diffraction grating on the device may diffract the incident light to the observer. The result may be colored light that appears to originate from the wearer's eyes. The diffraction grating may achieve a look or feeling that is qualitatively or quantitatively different from the look or feeling achieved by previous devices that use dyes or inks.
