In general, one aspect disclosed features a scleral contact lens for an eye of a patient, the scleral contact lens comprising: an anterior surface; and a posterior surface, the posterior surface comprising: a central optic zone defined by a base curve according to an apical radius of the cornea of the eye; a peripheral corneal zone peripheral to the central optic zone, a clearance control zone peripheral to the optic zone, and a scleral landing zone peripheral to the clearance control zone, the scleral landing zone having a single surface shape.
Contact lenses having a reinforcing scaffold
Ophthalmic lenses for correcting refractive error of an eye are disclosed. Ophthalmic lenses include an inner optic portion having a scaffold between an anterior portion and a posterior portion. The scaffold is characterized by a substantially uniform thickness formed from a material characterized by a modulus that his higher than the modulus of the peripheral portion. Openings within the scaffold are filled with a low modulus material. When applied to an eye, the lenses are configured to provide one or more lenticular volumes between the posterior surface of the lens and the cornea. The disclosure further relates to methods of correcting refractive errors of an eye such as astigmatism or spherical aberration using the ophthalmic lenses.
Contact lens with improved visual performance and minimized halo utilizing pupil apodization
A soft contact lens designed to improve visual performance with reduced pupil edge wavefront aberration, reduced halo and reduced light scattering. The soft contact lens is designed with pupil apodization for modulating the lens amplitude transmission profile.
Apparatus, system and method for exchanging encrypted communications with an eye-mountable device
Techniques and mechanisms for exchanging encrypted communications wirelessly with an accommodation-capable eye-mountable device (EMD). In an embodiment, a controller of the EMD is configured to encrypt data to be sent from the EMD to an auxiliary device or to decrypt data received by the EMD from the auxiliary device. Cryptographic operations to securely exchange the communications are based on a key value and a vector determined at the EMD. In another embodiment, the auxiliary device operates as a master, and the EMD operates as a slave, at least with respect to enablement of a functionality of the EMD to change an association of a cryptographic key value with a vector.
CONTACT LENSES AND METHODS RELATING THERETO
A contact lens (201) and methods of manufacturing such a lens are described. The lens (201) includes an optic zone (202). The optic zone (202) comprises a central region (205), the central region (205) having a first optical axis (219), a base radial curvature power, a base radial sagittal power, and a centre of curvature that is on the first optical axis (219). The optic zone (202) comprises an annular region (203), wherein at a point halfway across the width of the annular region (203) the annular region (203) has a radial curvature power of X, wherein X is greater than the base radial curvature power. The annular region (203) has an off-axis centre of curvature that is a first distance from the optical axis (219) such that, at a point halfway across its width, the annular region (203) has a sagittal power of Y, wherein Y is greater than the base radial sagittal power, and wherein Y is less than X.
Electrical interconnects within electronic contact lenses
An electronic contact lens contains electrical components connected by an electrical interconnect. The electrical interconnect has a flat body, with electrical conductors running length-wise along the body. The flat body is oriented perpendicular rather than parallel to the inner and outer surfaces of the contact lens to reduce a visible profile of the interconnect, reducing the amount of light blocked from entering the eye. The body has a curvature shaped to conform to the curvature of the contact lens. As examples, the interconnect may be connected with an electrical component using a tab perpendicular to the flat body of the interconnect, or by forming an edge connection with electrical contacts of the component located along an edge of the component, or through one or more exposed vias formed on the component.
Contact lens battery management
A contact lens battery management system (BMS) monitors battery health in an electronic contact lens. A battery made with high-internal-resistance cells is coupled on a cell-by-cell basis to input switches of a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that monitors, detects, and isolates faulty circuit components.
Spectrally filtered eyewear
A laser protection lens includes a multilayer interference coating applied to at least one of an inside and an outside surface of an optically transparent material. The multilayer interference coating has a spectral filter profile with at least a 20 dB reduction of optical transmission for at least two different center wavelengths of lasers, while having a transmittance color difference greater than 40 ΔE.sub.Yu′v′ for discrimination color difference of red, green, and yellow indicator lights, and having spectral transmittance that passes light detected by l-cones of an eye, while attenuating light detected by m-cones and s-cones of the eye so as to improve visual acuity.
Compositions with high refractive index and Abbe number
Disclosed are co-polymers which are produced from reactive monomer mixtures and which have both high refractive index and a high Abbe number. These materials are well suited for use as implantable ophthalmic devices and have a refractive index which may be edited through application of energy. When used for an intraocular lens, the high refractive index allows for a thin lens which compresses to allow a small incision size.
Systems and methods for measuring ciliary muscle activity
Systems and methods for non-invasively assessing ciliary muscle accommodative potential in phakic eyes may include receiving a plurality of signals generated by a plurality of bipolar electrodes during a ciliary muscle assessment procedure, each of the plurality of signals indicating an electrical field associated with a patient's ciliary muscle, and analyzing the signals to evaluate the patient's ciliary muscle accommodative potential.
