12124159 · 2024-10-22 · ·

A special effects system designed to provide a projection surface or screen that can be animated or dynamically altered in its shape and/or size over time while video content is being concurrently projected from a video projector onto the altering projection surface. The video content and projection surface alterations are synchronized in time, e.g., on a pixel basis or other level of precision in some cases, such that the size and/or shape of the projected imagery, e.g., of a character, an animated object, and/or the like, matches that of the size and shape or outline of the present state of the dynamically alterable projection surface.

In one embodiment, a rotatably coupled system is disclosed, comprising: a set of actuators; a set of rotatably coupled mounts, each of said set of rotatably coupled mount capable of mounting at least one said actuator; and wherein said at least one actuator mounted on said rotatably coupled mount is in moveable mechanical communication with said projection screen. In another embodiment, a linearly coupled system is disclosed comprising: a set of actuators; a set of linearly coupled mounts, each of said set of linearly coupled mount capable of mounting at least one said actuator; and wherein said at least one actuator mounted on said linearly coupled mount is in moveable mechanical communication with said projection screen.

Methods and systems of vibrating a screen

Screen vibration systems are provided that can vibrate theater screens using acoustical, electromagnetic, or another type of energy while reducing the presence of image artifacts that may otherwise be visible as result of vibrating the screen. In one example of a screen vibration system, the system includes a screen, a permanent magnet mounted to the screen, and a magnetic source positioned with respect to the permanent magnet and uncoupled from the screen. The screen is moveable in response to a changing magnetic field from the magnetic source.

A true three-dimensional volumetric imaging device includes an imaging light source, a light source adjusting unit, an imaging plate, and a movement driving unit. The light source adjusting unit is arranged between the imaging light source and the imaging plate, and the imaging plate is connected to the movement driving unit. A light beam emitted from the imaging light source is incident onto the imaging plate after being adjusted by the light source adjusting unit, and the movement driving unit causes the imaging plate to oscillate in a direction parallel to an outgoing direction of the light beam emitted from the imaging light source. In the true three-dimensional volumetric imaging device, the true three-dimensional volumetric display of an image is achieved. An algorithm herein is simpler, and a more complete volumetric object can be shown.

A display system configured to provide projection mapped augmentation of mechanically animated objects. These mechanically animated objects may take the form of a screen assembly with a projection surface, and a screen actuator may be included in the display system that is operated by a controller to move, to expand, or other otherwise operate the screen assembly so as to modify or morph the projection surface to move and/or change its shape and/or size. Hence, the screen assembly is animated. The display system further includes a projector operated by the controller, in a synchronized manner with the screen actuator, to project content onto the projection surface as it is moved and/or has its shape and/or size changed over time. The projected content is mapped to the various states and movement of the projection surface to avoid blow-by and to suit the changes of the projection surface.

Optical modulator for laser speckle reduction

An optical modulator (12) for speckle suppression in a laser projection system includes a first planar transparent conductor (20); a second optionally transparent planar conductor (26); a diffusing element (22) disposed between the first and second conductor; and an alternating voltage applied across the first and second conductors creates in-plane movement or distortion in the diffusing element to reduce laser speckle.

Medical image diagnostic apparatus and magnetic resonance imaging apparatus

According to one embodiment, a medical image diagnostic apparatus includes a gantry and a screen. The gantry for medical imaging includes a bore. The screen is insertable into the bore. A predetermined image is projected by a projector on the screen. The screen forms a shape that enables light generated by the projector to arrive at an inner wall of the gantry.
