Photographic lighting devices, systems, and methods having a plurality of electrical energy storage/discharge (EESD) elements and/or one or more light sources in a single photographic lighting device to perform one or more photographic lighting effects. EESD elements and one or more light sources can be configured to have multiple separate light emissions occur in a single image acquisition window. The multiple light emissions are separated in an image acquisition window by a time period that is about shutter speed exposure time/(N1), where N is the number of light emissions. In one such example, two light emissions are separated by a time period that is about shutter speed exposure time/(N1).

The disclosed technology relates to a hard and soft light module having a housing with a first surface that accommodates a lens. A first plurality of LEDs are disposed along a periphery of the first surface, the first plurality of LEDs are configured to generate light in a first direction toward an edge of the lens. A second plurality of LEDs are disposed proximate to the first surface, the second plurality of LEDs are configured to generate light in a second direction through the lens. The first plurality of LEDs are configured to generate a soft light and the second plurality of LEDs are configured to generate a hard light.

Light source module with adjustable diffusion

A light source module includes an array of illumination elements and a light diffusing material. The light source module is configured to receive a control signal for adjusting diffusion of light emitted from the light source module and in response adjust the amount of diffusion of light emitted from the light source module. A light source module may include a segmented light diffusing material where each segment is associated with an illumination element. And individual segments may have light diffusing properties that are different than other segments of the light diffusing material. Some illumination elements may emit light of a different color spectrum than other illumination elements, and a light diffusing material may scatter the different colored light to illuminate a scene with combinations of light of different colors. A light source module may be embedded in a mobile computing device.

LED flash ring surrounding camera lens

A flash system for an electronic device includes a ring-shaped light guide having a central opening. A camera lens is positioned in or behind the opening. A first light emitting diode (LED) is mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB), and the LED and PCB are encapsulated by a molded light guide of the flash system. An identical LED and PCB are encapsulated at an opposite end of the molded light guide (i.e., 180 degrees away). The back surfaces of each PCB diffusively reflects light from the LED on the other PCB. Light extraction features on the light guide surface uniformly leak out light from the LEDs. The light emission profile of the light guide has a peak axially aligned with the central opening of the light guide and rolls off to the edge of the camera's field of view.

On-camera flashlight

The present invention is an on-camera flashlight, comprising a lower light holder and a top light holder freely rotatably connected to the lower light holder. A flashlight light source is mounted on the top of the top light holder. The light emitting diode and the flashlight light source are mounted on the on-camera flashlight, combined for ease of use. Two functions-in-one lighting device saves space, avoids overloading the camera, and makes it portable. Because the two light sources are set in combination, the cooperation and sequence of the two light sources are easier to control. As the light emitting diode is mounted on the top light holder which may freely rotate with respect to the lower light holder, the light emitting diode may also freely rotate. It is also convenient to adjust the light direction. Above features all remarkably facilitate operation and versatility of the on-camera flashlight.
