COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR IMPROVING ADHESION OF AN IMAGE TO A TREATED SUBSTRATE
Compositions and methods that generally relates to treating a substrate and for improving adhesion of an image to a treated substrate and more particularly relates to systems and methods utilizing a combination of a poly tertiary amide, colloidal silica, and optionally a polymeric binder, for treating a substrate and for improving adhesion of an electrographic image to a treated substrate.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a transfer unit configured to transfer second charged images superposed with one another onto a holding surface of a recording medium on which at least one first charged image has been electrostatically held and a static eliminating unit disposed upstream from the transfer unit in a transport direction of the recording medium and configured to remove static electricity from the recording medium electrostatically holding the at least one first charged image.
Treatment of printing substrate
A method of enhancing adhesion of an image to at least one surface of a substrate is provided herein. The method includes treating at least a portion of the surface by applying a composition comprising one or more polymers to the portion of the surface. The method further includes drying the composition after applying the composition to the substrate to form a treated substrate. The method further includes printing an image from an electrophotographic printer utilizing liquid toner technology on the treated substrate. The substrate is treated and dried less than about 5 minutes prior to being printed.
Calibration of a temperature sensor of a printing device
A printing device having a heating apparatus arranged to heat an image substrate, a temperature sensor associated with the image substrate, and a processor communicatively coupled to the heating apparatus. During a simulation mode of the printing device, the processor determines the heating power of the heating apparatus, predicts a temperature of the image substrate based on the heating power, compares the predicted temperature to a measured temperature of the image substrate by the temperature sensor, determines a calibration offset when the measured temperature deviates from the predicted temperature, and selectively generates a control signal for use in calibrating the temperature sensor based on the calibration offset.
Method and device for drying a printed recording medium
In a method and device for drying a printed recording medium, a printed recording medium is introduced into a heated first chamber in which a temperature suitable for drying the recording medium and a first pressure are set. The printed recording medium is also introduced into a second chamber in which a second temperature that is suitable for cooling the recording medium for a further processing and a second pressure are set. The first pressure can be provided to be lower than the second pressure.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier unit, an image display control unit, and a forming unit. The image carrier unit holds images formed from a developer. The images include an image intended to be transferred to a medium and an image unintended to be transferred to the medium. The image display control unit causes a display unit to display an image asking whether the image unintended to be transferred is to be formed when a predetermined condition for forming the image unintended to be transferred is satisfied. The forming unit forms the image unintended to be transferred to the medium when a command of forming the image unintended to be transferred to the medium is input to a display on the display unit.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a storage portion to which a heating unit configured to heat the sheet stored in the storage portion is detachably attached, a conveyance unit, a detection unit configured to detect attachment of the heating unit to the storage portion, and a control unit configured to control the conveyance unit such that a standby time by which conveyance of the sheet fed from the storage portion is stopped is shorter when the detection unit detects the heating unit than when the detection unit does not detect the heating unit.
Transfer unit and image forming apparatus including a guide member having a tip end portion
A transfer unit includes: a transfer body that forms a transfer nip together with an image holding member provided to hold a developer image and allows a recording medium to be nipped in and transported through the transfer nip so that a developer image is transferred to the recording medium; and a guide member that intersects a tangent to the transfer nip and has a tip end portion located closer to the image holding member across the tangent when viewed in an axial direction, and guides the recording medium transported from an upstream side to the transfer nip, wherein the tip end portion has plural regions having different distances from the image holding member.
