IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

There is provided an image forming apparatus including a configuration in which a voltage of a polarity opposite to a toner charging polarity is applied. In the image forming apparatus, a guide region of a pre-transfer guide is located on a photosensitive drum side with respect to a common tangent line of a photosensitive drum and a development roller to reduce contamination of the pre-transfer guide and prevent contamination of recording materials.

An image forming device includes an image carrier carrying an image, a transfer device including paired transfer members that transport the image carrier and a recording medium, a grounded guide member that guides the recording medium to a transfer region, and a transfer power source that produces an electric field in the transfer region causing the image to be transferred onto the recording medium. The transfer power source includes a first transfer power source that imparts a first transfer voltage to one of the paired transfer members, and a second transfer power source that, when the recording medium has a predetermined resistance value or less, or is of low resistance having a conductive layer along a medium substrate face, imparts a second transfer voltage of opposite polarity and having an absolute value less than or equal to the first transfer voltage to the other of the paired transfer members.

Image forming apparatus with a support to adjust a rotator and a guide

An image forming apparatus includes a belt-shaped image bearer, a transferer, a guide, two rotators, and a support. The image bearer has an image bearing surface to bear an image thereon. The transferer forms a transfer section between the transferer and the image bearer, to transfer the image onto a recording medium. The guide is disposed upstream from the transfer section in a delivery direction of the recording medium, to guide the recording medium toward the transfer section. The two rotators are disposed upstream from the transfer section in a moving direction of the image bearer and in contact with a non-image bearing surface of the image bearer opposite to the image bearing surface, a first rotator being closer to the transfer section than a second rotator. The support supports the first rotator and the guide and adjusts a position of the first rotator and a position of the guide.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier that holds an electrostatic latent image and a toner image while rotating, a charger that charges the image carrier, an exposure unit that radiates light onto the image carrier to form an electrostatic latent image, a developing unit that develops the electrostatic latent image with toner, a transfer unit that transfers a toner image onto a sheet, a fixing unit that fixes the toner image onto the sheet, a charging-bias power supply that applies charging bias to the charger, a transfer-bias power supply that applies reverse transfer bias to the transfer unit, and a controller that causes the charging-bias power supply to apply the charging bias to the charger, the transfer-bias power supply to apply the reverse transfer bias to the transfer unit, and the exposure unit to radiate the light onto a region of the image carrier.

IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

An image forming device includes an image carrier, a transfer device, a face-forming member, and a reducing element. The image carrier carries an image. The transfer device is disposed in contact with the image carrier, transports a recording medium, and applies a transfer voltage to a transfer region between the transfer device and the image carrier to transfer the image on the image carrier to the recording medium. The face-forming member is disposed in contact with a back face of the image carrier further upstream than the transfer region, is provided grounded along a direction intersecting the movement direction of the image carrier, and includes a conductive member forming a movement track face of the image carrier leading to the transfer region. The reducing element is provided on a current path going through the face-forming member, and reduces an amount of current leading from the face-forming member to ground.
