An image forming apparatus includes a correcting portion to correct gradation of inputted image data on the basis of a correction condition, an image forming device to form, on a recording material, a toner image corresponding to the corrected image data, a mounting portion, an executing portion to execute an output process for forming and outputting, on the recording material, a predetermined toner image for generating the correction condition, the predetermined toner image including a plurality of image regions different in density, an input portion to permit input of an execution instruction of the output process by an operator, and a controller to control notification of information to the operator. The controller provides notification prompting exchange of the fixing portions in certain cases.

An image processing apparatus includes a first image processing unit comprising a first image heating portion, wherein the first image heating portion is selectively operable at a toner fixing temperature and a higher, image decoloring, temperature and thus can perform both image fixing and image decoloring therein, and a second image processing unit comprising a second image heating portion. At least one of the first and second image processing units further comprises a user input section for receiving a request to decolor one or more sheets. Upon receiving a user input to the input section requesting decoloring of one or more sheets, a controller of the image processing unit to which the request was input determines the operating status thereof, and determines if the request to decolor the one or more sheets can be currently performed therein.

A control device for controlling an electronic device over a communication network; the electronic device comprises data storage having control parameters and associated access levels which control operation of the electronic device; circuitry which generates a control setup message including the control parameters and access levels; and a network interface for sending the control setup message. The control device comprises: circuitry for determining an access level of a user logged in to the control device; a network interface for receiving the control setup message; control interface setup circuitry for generating a set of control parameters, extract control parameters having an access level equal to or lower than the access level of the user logged in to the control device; and a graphic generating circuitry for generating a graphical control interface comprising control graphics enabling control of different states of operation of the electronic device corresponding to the extracted control parameters.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an execution unit that executes dew condensation elimination operation for eliminating dew condensation in the image forming unit, a setting unit that sets a dew condensation prevention mode for executing the dew condensation elimination operation to an enabled state, a display unit, and a control unit that causes the display unit to display a warning screen and selects a type of image forming job to be restricted during execution of the dew condensation elimination operation in a case where the dew condensation prevention mode is set to an enabled state, wherein, in a case where an image forming job is received during execution of the dew condensation elimination operation, the control unit determines whether the received image forming job is executable based on the type of job selected.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming station for forming an unfixed toner image on a sheet; a fixing portion detachably mountable to the apparatus, said fixing portion including a rotatable member for being contacted by an image carrying surface of the sheet; a jam detector for detecting jamming in said fixing portion; an executing portion for executing a cleaning process for said rotatable member after clearance of the jamming; a storing portion, provided on said fixing portion, for storing information as to whether or not the cleaning process is executed; and a display for displaying a state of capability of image forming operation. The executing portion executes the cleaning process before said display displays the state, when the information stored in said storing portion of said fixing portion mounted in said main assembly indicates non-execution of said cleaning process.

A control unit includes a touch panel display capable of presenting preview display of multiple pages of document images in a scrollable manner on the display panel. The touch panel display controller includes: a commanded position detecting controller that detects a commanded position relative to one of document images being a reference in the preview image displayed on a display panel; a preview layout direction switching controller that switches the layout direction in the preview image in accordance with the commanded position; and a scroll direction switching controller that switches the scrolling direction in the preview image in accordance with the detected commanded position.

In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a first printing unit configured to execute printing with non-decolorable first toner on an image receiving medium, a second printing unit configured to execute printing with decolorable second toner on the image receiving medium, and a control module configured to print an image according to image information on the image receiving medium with the first printing unit, and execute printing on a cover paper of the image receiving medium with the second printing unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of feeding decks each containing a recording sheet, a display unit, an image forming unit that forms an image on the recording sheet conveyed from one of the plurality of feeding decks, a scanning unit that scans the image formed by the image forming unit, one or more processors and one or more memories cooperating to perform control to display information about the plurality of feeding decks on the display unit and select a feeding deck from among the plurality of feeding decks based on a user instruction, and a diagnosis unit that diagnoses a defective part in the image forming unit based on the image formed on the recording sheet by the image forming unit, the recording sheet being conveyed from the selected feeding deck, the image being obtained by scanning by the scanning unit.

An image forming apparatus for performing image formation using a recording material includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire a remaining amount of the recording material, a prediction unit configured to predict a remaining amount of the recording material based on data used for the image formation, a setting unit configured to set the predicated remaining amount of the recording material as a remaining amount of the recording material to be displayed, and a control unit configured to perform control so that when the predicted remaining amount of the recording material reaches a remaining amount of the recording material to be acquired next by the acquisition unit, the remaining amount of the recording material to be displayed is maintained at the remaining amount of the recording material to be acquired next by the acquisition unit until the acquisition unit acquires the next remaining amount of the recording material.

According to one embodiment, a decoloring device includes a reading unit, a decoloring unit, and a control unit. The reading unit is configured to read control information from a first image formed in a predetermined area of a sheet. The decoloring unit is configured to decolor a portion or entirety of a second image, different from the first image, formed on the sheet using a decolorable recording material. The control unit is configured to control erasing of the data of the second image from a storage device, based on the control information, in a case where the decoloring unit decolors the second image.
