The image processing apparatus includes a storing unit configured to store a document in a storage device, a notification unit configured to periodically notify an apparatus of a predetermined destination of information about a document that has been newly stored by the storing unit into the storage device, and a control unit configured to restrict shifting to a power saving mode in which the notification unit cannot make the notification after storage of a document by the storing unit has been completed and until the notification unit notifies at least information about the document.

An image forming apparatus includes a storage unit, an input unit, and a control unit. The storage unit stores therein organizational department codes previously set one corresponding to each of organizational departments for an organizational department member to use the image forming apparatus, a guest department code, which is previously set for department management guests, who do not belong to any of the organizational departments, to use the image forming apparatus, and department function management information for managing function-use permission/prohibition with respect to each of the organizational department codes and the guest department code. In the task trigger area, software buttons operated by the user for actually operating the image forming apparatus are displayed.

An operation console used in relation to an apparatus as an object of control operated by a user operation includes: a display device having a display area for displaying information to the user; an input device for the user to input a request; and a display control device displaying, if a request for displaying specific information on said display device is input through the input device, the specific information on the display device. The input device includes a plurality of operation buttons for inputting a plurality of requests, corresponding to respective requests, arranged in the vicinity of the display area. Among the plurality of operation buttons, an operation button corresponding to the request for displaying the specific information is provided closest to the display device.

In general, according to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a display unit, an operation input unit, a storage unit, a control unit, and an image forming unit. The operation input unit receives an operation input. The storage unit stores function restriction instruction content that disables setting and use of a predetermined function related to printing, so as to correspond to a sheet handling method after image formation. The control unit displays a setting screen for setting each function related to printing and selecting the sheet handling method on the display unit, acquires the function restriction instruction content corresponding to the selected sheet handling method from the storage unit when the sheet handling method is selected, displays the setting screen in which setting and use of the predetermined function are disabled on the display unit on the basis of the acquired function restriction instruction content, and receives print setting on the setting screen. The image forming unit is controlled by the control unit on the basis of the setting received on the setting screen and forms an image on a sheet.

A printing apparatus capable of conveying sheets to a sheet processing apparatus and to control the type of a sheet to be used as a cover sheet in a case where a book bound product is generated by switching back sheets each having an image printed, inverting the sheets and folding the inverted sheets, and to notify an error to a user based on the type of a sheet to be used as the cover sheet in a case where printing an image on the cover sheet is designated.

A printing apparatus includes a holding unit configured to hold an envelope having a flap, a detection unit configured to detect a guide width between two guides provided in the holding unit, an acceptance unit configured to accept information about envelope size and flap length from a user, and a display control unit configured to determine whether to perform an error notification display based on the guide width detected by the detection unit as well as based on the envelope size and the flap length accepted by the acceptance unit.
