An image forming apparatus includes: a display portion; an image forming device; a fixing device; a controller configured to control display of the display portion so that one is selected from a plurality of sheet widths to impose a limitation on a use of the image forming apparatus; a storing portion, provided detachably mountable to the image forming apparatus together with the fixing device, configured to store information corresponding to the sheet width selected at the display portion; a reading portion configured to read information stored in the storing portion; and a limiting portion configured to impose, on the basis of the information read by the reading portion, a limitation on widths of sheets capable of being designated as a printing condition.

An image forming apparatus includes image forming parts, developer containers, developer amount detecting parts, a use setting part and a limit setting part. The image forming parts execute an image forming operation for respective colors of developers. The developer container contains the developer to be supplied to the image forming part. The developer amount detecting part detects a developer amount contained in the developer container. The use setting part sets a use condition indicating whether each developer is usable or unusable. The limit setting part sets a limit condition indicating a limit value of the developer amount to be maintained in each developer container. The image forming part executes the image forming operation in accordance to the use condition set by the use setting part, to the developer amount detected by the developer amount detecting part, and to the limit condition set by the limit setting part.

An operation console used in relation to an apparatus as an object of control operated by a user operation includes: a display device having a display area for displaying information to the user; an input device for the user to input a request; and a display control device displaying, if a request for displaying specific information on said display device is input through the input device, the specific information on the display device. The input device includes a plurality of operation buttons for inputting a plurality of requests, corresponding to respective requests, arranged in the vicinity of the display area. Among the plurality of operation buttons, an operation button corresponding to the request for displaying the specific information is provided closest to the display device.

An image display operation device includes a function selecting portion to correlate with a plurality of functions so as to be executable, a display portion to display the function selecting portion, and a display control portion that causes the display portion to display the function selecting portion. The function selecting portion includes a first function selecting portion in which selectable function items are displayed, and a second function selecting portion in which other function items that are selectable in conjunction with functions included in the first function selecting portion are displayed. When one or more functions included in the first function selecting portion are selected, the display control portion changes function items to be displayed on the second function selecting portion, based on contents of the one or more functions selected on the first function selecting portion.

A remote operation system comprises an image forming apparatus and a remote operation apparatus. The image forming apparatus has an operation input part including a touch panel and a hardware key and a transmission part for transmitting synthesizable area information indicating a synthesizable area in a candidate screen (first screen) of the remote operation screen to the remote operation apparatus. The first screen is a screen including a touch panel area and a hardware key area, and the synthesizable area is defined in the synthesizable area information as an area not including a hardware key image. The remote operation apparatus generates a second screen by synthesizing an additional image to be added to the first screen into the synthesizable area of the first screen on the basis of the synthesizable area information and displays the second screen on the display part as the remote operation screen.

An image forming apparatus determines a remaining recording material amount based on a sensor value and a predicted value. When a sensor falsely detects the remaining recording material amount, the image forming apparatus appropriately determines the remaining recording material amount. Upon acquisition of a new sensor value, the image forming apparatus does not update a current value with the new sensor value if a difference between the new sensor value and the current value is a predetermined value or greater.

To provide an electric equipment which has a function in which parameter is set, and enables a user to appropriately adjust the parameters regardless of an ability level of user. A plurality of reception screens having different degrees of detail for received instructions for adjusting parameters are displayed depending on the ability level of user to adjust the appropriate parameters, such as maintenance ability, or presence or absence of the specialized knowledge for the apparatus, or the like, thus the user adjusts the parameter using the reception screen suitable for the user.

An image forming apparatus for performing image formation using a recording material includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire a remaining amount of the recording material, a prediction unit configured to predict a remaining amount of the recording material based on data used for the image formation, a setting unit configured to set the predicated remaining amount of the recording material as a remaining amount of the recording material to be displayed, and a control unit configured to perform control so that when the predicted remaining amount of the recording material reaches a remaining amount of the recording material to be acquired next by the acquisition unit, the remaining amount of the recording material to be displayed is maintained at the remaining amount of the recording material to be acquired next by the acquisition unit until the acquisition unit acquires the next remaining amount of the recording material.

An information processing part of image forming apparatus includes a division number questioning part, answer receiving part, image dividing part, key highlighting part, processing image selection part, and reporting display part. Division number questioning part makes a question about a required image division number. Answer receiving part receives an answer. Image dividing part displays image, dividing it into plural processing image areas by the required image division number answered. Key highlighting part highlights keys corresponding to processing image areas. Processing image selection part selects processing image area corresponding to a key operated, as processing object. Upon a highlighted key being operated, reporting display part reports that processing image area corresponding to that key is selected as processing object.
