In an image forming apparatus, a control device functions as a controller and a user presence/absence determiner. When accepting an instruction to execute a print job through a touch panel, the controller controls operations of a sheet feed device, a conveyance device, and an image forming device to allow a document image represented by image data generated by a document reading device to be formed on a sheet to make a printed matter and allow the printed matter to be discharged to a sheet output tray. An image processing apparatus capable of shifting to a power saving mode. The image processing apparatus includes a storing unit configured to store a document in a storage device, a notification unit configured to periodically notify an apparatus of a predetermined destination of information about a document that has been newly stored by the storing unit into the storage device, and a control unit configured to restrict shifting to a power saving mode in which the notification unit cannot make the notification after storage of a document by the storing unit has been completed and until the notification unit notifies at least information about the document.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer unit including a sheet ejection tray located on an upper surface of the printer unit; a scanner unit spaced above the sheet ejection tray of the printer unit in a vertical direction; an operation unit disposed at a front end portion of the scanner unit, the operation unit including a touchscreen; a cover covering a bottom side of the touchscreen in the vertical direction; and a fixing portion fixing the cover to the front end portion of the scanner unit. The cover includes a support portion that, when projected on an imaginary horizontal surface, overlaps a part of the touchscreen. An image forming apparatus that is replenished with toner by using a toner cartridge serving as a toner container that accommodates toner, which is a consumable, and that is detachable from an apparatus body, includes, as a characteristic component of a control section that controls the image forming apparatus, a display control unit that, when a toner cartridge to be first inserted or a replacing toner cartridge is inserted, causes a display section of an operation panel to display a display (e.g. a message, an image (illustration), a moving image, or the like) that instructs a user in an operation of shaking the toner cartridge.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to perform image formation in a first mode, in which image formation is performed by a plurality of image forming stations, or a second mode, in which image formation is performed by a predetermined image forming station among the plurality of image forming stations; and a controller configured to: control the image forming unit to perform a preparation operation in accordance with color mode information; set a restricted operation state in which the controller prohibits the image formation in the first mode and permits the image formation in the second mode when any one image forming station, except for the predetermined image forming station, is incapable of performing image formation; and prevent the image forming unit from performing the preparation operation when the first mode is set as the color mode information and the restricted operation state is set.

An image forming apparatus includes a memory and a controller. The memory is configured to store information related to a recording medium type detected by a detector in the past. The controller is configured to control a feeder so as to prevent feeding of a recording medium from starting, when a printing operation is started in a first mode, in a case that a recording medium type set through a setting unit and a recording medium type discriminated based on the information stored in the memory do not match with each other.
