An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device to form an image on an image bearer based on a prescribed image-forming condition, and circuitry to change the prescribed image-forming condition and correct image-density unevenness in an image-width direction orthogonal to an image conveyance direction of the image bearer. In the image forming apparatus, the multiple relational values correspond to portions in the image-width direction.

The detector detects a toner image and outputs a detection value indicating an amount of toner of the toner image adhering to the second mover. The circuitry calculates a variable value for the amount of toner varying with a change in a transfer pressure, based on the detection value and a target value of the amount of toner of the toner image to be transferred and adhere to the second mover, reflects the calculated variable value in the detection value to correct the detection value, adjusts an image-forming condition based on the corrected detection value, and sets the image-forming condition of the toner image in the image forming device based on the corrected detection value.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, an image forming portion, a transfer member, a power source, an acquiring portion, and a controller capable of executing an operation in an adjustment mode. A plurality of test toner images transferred onto a recording material in the occurrence in the adjusting mode include a first test toner image transferred under application of a first test voltage and a second test toner image transferred under application of a second test voltage different from the first test voltage. In the operation in the adjustment mode, the controller adjusts the transfer voltage set for transfer on the basis of first information on variation in image density acquired in different regions of the first test toner image and second information on variation in image density acquired in different regions of the second test toner image.

An image forming apparatus, which carries out constant-voltage control of a voltage applied to a transfer member and is capable of executing limiter control for controlling the voltage applied to the transfer member based on a detection result of a current detecting portion so that the detection result falls within a predetermined range, is capable of executing a first mode in which a toner image is transferred onto a recording material and a second mode in which a plurality of test toner images are transferred onto the recording material by applying a plurality of different voltages to the transfer member. A controller is capable of carrying out the limiter control while the recording material passes through the transfer portion in executing the first mode and does not carry out the limiter control while an area onto which the plurality of test images are transferred passes through a transfer portion in executing the second mode.

An image forming apparatus includes a platen on which an original is to be placed, a feeder configured to feed an original placed on a tray, a sensor configured to detect a sheet on the tray, a lamp provided to the feeder, a reader configured to read the original placed on the platen and to read the original conveyed by the feeder, an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet, and a controller. An image forming unit forms test images of a color of the same type as a first color using toner of a second color and toner of a third color, transfers first and second test images, fixes the test images on a sheet, controls a sensor to read the test images, determines sampling timings for the test images based on an output signal related to the first test image outputted from the sensor using a color filter of a fourth color, acquires a result of reading the test images based on a reading result of the test images on the sheet by the color sensor using a color filter of the first color and the sampling timing, and determines a transfer voltage based on the result of reading the test images.
