An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit (LBP) to form an image on a sheet, a conveyance unit configured to convey the sheet, a sensor, which is configured to move in a direction perpendicular to a conveying direction in which the conveyance unit conveys the sheet, and to read the image on the sheet, and a controller. The image forming unit forms a first trigger image and a first pattern image on the sheet, and the image forming unit forms a second trigger image and a second pattern image at a position on the sheet different from a position of both the first trigger image and the first pattern image in the conveying direction. A formation area of the first trigger image in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction overlaps with a formation area of the second pattern image.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet; a line sensor configured to read a sheet having test images formed thereon while the sheet having the test images formed thereon is conveyed; and a controller configured to: control the image forming unit to form the test images on the sheet; control the line sensor to read the sheet having the test images formed thereon; obtain read data related to the test images, the read data being output by the line sensor; and control, based on the read data, a geometric characteristic of an image to be formed on a sheet by the image forming unit, wherein the controller is configured to determine, in a reading area of the line sensor, whether dust is detected in a first area.

There is provided an image forming system including an image forming apparatus including a hardware processor that forms an image on a recording material, and the image forming system includes: a first detector that detects recording material information on the recording material; a recording material storage that stores the recording material; and a controller that specifies one type of the recording material from type candidates of the recording material based on an execution result of test printing, by executing the test printing under an image forming condition that is set in accordance with one or more type candidates of the recording material, the one or more type candidates being extracted based on the recording material information detected by the first detector.
OPTICAL DENSITY ADJUSTMENT
In one example of the disclosure, a first voltage is provided to an electrode of a development assembly during a first printing operation. The developer assembly includes a current-resistant coating and is to develop print fluid with conductive particles. Contemporaneous with the providing of the first voltage to the electrode, a second voltage is provided to a squeegee roller of the developer assembly. Data indicative of a measurement of optical density of a first image printed utilizing the developer assembly is received. During a second printing operation, if the measured optical density is outside a target optical density, contemporaneously the first voltage is provided to the electrode and a third voltage to the squeegee roller to adjust image optical density.

A registration sensor is to sense an amount of light reflected from the image forming medium. A processor is to determine a state of the photoconductive drum based on the amount of sensed light in the pattern.
