The control unit performs control to determine, from the plurality of sheet feeding cassettes, a sheet feeding cassette to be used for the correction job based on information on the sheet feeding cassette used for the print job.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, an image forming unit, an intermediate transfer belt, a power supply, a transfer member to transfer toner image on the intermediate transfer belt to a recording medium, and a sensor to detect, as density information, a density of the recording medium toner image. In an adjustment mode, (i) a test recording medium is output as a test chart by applying multiple levels of test voltages to the transfer member to transfer test toner images to the test recording medium, (ii) the transferred test toner images are detected via the sensor, and (iii) a transfer voltage is adjusted based on the sensor detection. In the adjustment mode, test toner image groups are set, one test toner image group is extracted based on an index value, and the transfer voltage is adjusted based on the density information of the extracted test toner image group.

An image forming apparatus which includes a rotary member and a detecting member configured to detect light from a surface of the rotary member. A controller is configured to acquire information relating to a position on the rotary member in a moving direction thereof based on a detection result obtained by the detecting member. The surface of the rotary member has, in a part of the rotary member in its moving direction, an area with a different detection result obtained by the detecting member based on a shape of the surface of the rotary member. The controller acquires the information relating to the position on the rotary member in the moving direction based on the detection result of detecting light from the surface of the rotary member by the detecting member.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on image forming condition; a reader configured to convey the sheet, and read a test image on the sheet while the sheet is conveyed; and a controller configured to: control the image forming unit to form the image and the test image on a same sheet; control the reader to read the test image on the same sheet; and generate the image forming condition for adjusting an density of an image to be formed by the image forming unit, based on a reading result of the test image by the reader.

Examples of methods are described herein. In some examples, a method includes calculating a first cost function measure based on band defects in an image. In some examples, the method also includes calculating a second cost function measure based on the band defects and a synthetic band. In some examples, the method further includes detecting a missing band based on a comparison of the first cost function measure and the second cost function measure.

The circuitry executes image quality adjustment control for adjusting image quality of the image formed by the image forming device. The circuitry is configured to selectively execute a first control mode for executing first image quality adjustment control and a second control mode including both the first image quality adjustment control and second image quality adjustment control. The circuitry executes only the second image quality adjustment control without executing the first image quality adjustment control in a case in which an execution skip condition for skipping the first image quality adjustment control is satisfied even when an execution condition for executing the second control mode is satisfied.

The first stretching member includes a first parallel area that is parallel to an axial direction, which is a direction of a rotation axis of the belt, and a first inclined area that is connected to an outer side of the first parallel area with respect to the axial direction and is inclined in a direction closer to the rotation axis. The detector detects a location corresponding to a first boundary between the first parallel area and the first inclined area or a location corresponding to a predetermined first adjacent area that is adjacent to and on an inner side of the first boundary.
