An image forming apparatus including: a first and a second photosensitive members, an endless transfer belt, a transfer unit configured form a transfer nip with the endless transfer belt, a storage unit configured to store first and second delay data each indicating an amount of delay of a second exposure start timing of the second photosensitive member with respect to a first exposure start timing of the first photosensitive member, a control unit configured to control the second exposure start timing based on the first delay data until a first recording medium enters the transfer nip and control the second exposure start timing based on the second delay data after the first recording medium enters the transfer nip.

An image forming apparatus including a conveying unit conveying a continuous paper; an image forming unit forming an image on an image carrier and printing the image on the continuous paper conveyed by the conveying unit; and a control unit controlling the image forming apparatus; wherein when a progress state of the image forming apparatus reaches a reference, the control unit performs a maintenance operation by forming an image for maintenance on the image carrier of the image forming unit, after interrupting the printing based on a job when the job is being executed, and when a job is to be executed, the control unit determines whether the progress state of the image forming apparatus exceeds the reference before the job is completed prior to the maintenance operation, and, when the progress state exceeds the reference, issues an alarm regarding the interruption of the printing based on the job.

An image formation apparatus includes: image formation units mounted in series in a conveyance direction of a transfer object and that form images and correction patterns of different color developers on the transfer object; a sensor that detects a color misregistration, by the emission of a detection light to the correction pattern on the transfer object and the reception of a reflection light from the transfer object; an identification unit that identifies, out of the image formation units, a first image formation unit using a first developer which is the developer with the lowest reflectance, based on reflectance information indicating reflectances of the developers for the image formation units, or based on color information indicating the colors of the developers for the image formation units; and a corrector that corrects the color misregistration with respect to the first image formation unit identified by the identification unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image forming units, each unit including an image bearing member, a developer carrying member that supplies developer to an electrostatic latent image to form a developer image, and a cleaning member that removes the developer from a surface of the image bearing member. The image forming apparatus further includes: an intermediate transfer member that carries the developer images of the respective units; a transfer unit that transfers superimposed developer images on the intermediate transfer member to a recording material; and a control unit that performs a toner supply process in which the developer is supplied from the developer carrying member to a region where the image bearing member and the cleaning member come into contact after a first image forming process of printing a high-coverage image and before a second image forming process.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer device, a voltage applying portion, a fixing device, and a controller. During execution of an operation in an output mode, the controller is capable of selectively executing: an operation in which test images formed on a first side of a first recording material are fixed and then the first recording material is outputted without forming the test images on a second side of the first recording material and then in which a second recording material is passed through the fixing device without forming the test images on a first side of the second recording material and then the test images are transferred onto a second side of the second recording material.

An image forming apparatus includes a photoconductor drum, a latent-image forming device, a developing device, a density detecting device, and a processing device. The density detecting device is configured to detect densities at a plurality of positions in a main-scanning direction on a developed image. The processing device is configured to acquire at least two light-amount correction tables respectively associated with at least two positions of the plurality of positions in the main-scanning direction on the developed image, the light-amount correction tables being for reducing density variations in a sub-scanning direction at the at least two positions, and correct, for each scan, a set point for setting an amount of light of a light source based on a difference in corresponding correction data between two light-amount correction tables respectively associated with two adjacent positions of the at least two light-amount correction tables.

An image forming apparatus includes a toner image forming section, a detection section, a variation calculation section, a user setting acquisition section, an adjustment ratio calculation section, and an adjustment section. The toner image forming section forms a toner image. The detection section detects a toner density of the formed toner image. The variation calculation section obtains a variation in toner density based on the detected toner density. The user setting acquisition section acquires a user setting concerning a degree of adjusting the toner density. The user setting is set by a user. The adjustment ratio calculation section calculates an adjustment ratio which is a ratio at which the user setting is reflected, in accordance with the variation in toner density. The adjustment section adjusts the toner density based on the variation in toner density, the user setting, and the adjustment ratio.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member, a supplying member for supplying a protective agent applied onto a surface of the transfer member, and a controller capable of controlling the supplying member. In a state in which the transfer member contacts the image bearing member during non-image formation outside of image formation in which the toner image is transferred from the image bearing member onto the recording material, the controller carries out control so that an operation in an application mode, in which the protective agent supplied from the supplying member is applied onto the surface of the transfer member, is executed.

A method and system are disclosed for detecting a fatal error condition in a printing device having an intermediate transfer member for facilitating toner transfer, including sensing a reflectance value of the intermediate transfer member at a first predetermined time; comparing the sensed reflectance value at the first period of time to a predetermined threshold; sensing a reflectance value of the intermediate transfer member at a second predetermined time after the predetermined first time; and comparing the sensed reflectance value of the intermediate transfer member at the second period of time to the predetermined threshold. If each of the sensed reflectance value at the first predetermined time and the sensed reflectance value at the second predetermined time is greater than the predetermined threshold, the method includes selectively suspending further printing operations until the imaging device is serviced.

An image forming apparatus includes an exposure part forming an electrostatic latent image on a charge region, a developer carrier developing the electrostatic latent image into two types of development images (printing developer image and no-printing developer image), a supply member supplying developer to the developer carrier, a first detection part detecting a first physical quantity correlating to the density of the no-printing developer image, a setting part performing a setting, based on the first physical quantity, for a development voltage applied to the developer carrier or a supply voltage applied to the supply member, a second detection part detecting a second physical quantity correlating to a number of rotations after the print of the printing developer image starts, a correction part correcting, based on the second physical quantity, the development voltage or the supply voltage set by the setting part, and a power source part applying the development voltage to the developer carrier and applies the supply voltage to the supply member.
