An image processing apparatus which is capable of improving ease of operation for users and also improving security when destinations are made public. The image processing apparatus is shared by a plurality of users and capable of selecting a destination from a plurality of address books and carrying out file transmission to the destination. It is determined whether or not a user has logged in, and when it is determined that the user has logged in, only personal addresses for the logged-in user are displayed on a display unit. The personal destinations displayed on the display unit are switched to destinations other than the personal destinations according to selection by the user. When it is determined that the user has not logged in, all destinations which are registered in the plurality of address books are displayed on the display unit.

An electronic device includes: an operation section, a reception section, a human body detection sensor, and a mode switching section. The mode switching section switches the electronic device between a normal operation mode permitting a normal operation and a sleep mode in a power saving state based on presence or absence of a detection signal from the human body detection sensor. Then the mode switching section stops in a case where a state in which the reception section receives an operation made by use of the operation section continues for a predefined period of time the switching between the normal operation mode and the sleep mode based on the presence or absence of the detection signal.

An image processing apparatus includes a receiving unit, an executing unit, a log information generating unit, a holding unit, and a transmitting unit. The receiving unit receives and installs one or more program information items for executing a preset process. The executing unit executes the preset process on the basis of at least one of the installed one or more program information items. A user authentication unit executes user authentication in a first stage and user authentication in a second stage of an authentication method different from the user authentication in the first stage. There is provided a mechanism for invalidating, when an apparatus returns from a high-speed shutdown, authentication identification information issued before the apparatus enters the high-speed shutdown.

An image forming apparatus (1) includes a scanner unit (12U), a scanner housing (12), and a contactless card reader (42). The scanner unit (12U) optically reads an image of an original document to generate image data. The scanner housing (12) accommodates the scanner unit (12U). The card reader (42) has a flat information reading surface (421) and reads information recorded on an information card C. In an authenticity determination system, an image forming apparatus acquires apparatus identification information for identifying the image forming apparatus from a memory of the image forming apparatus, and consumables container identification information for identifying a container of predetermined consumables from the container of the consumables mounted in the image forming apparatus. A server stores the apparatus identification information and the consumables container identification information in association with each other, receives the apparatus identification information and the consumables container identification information transmitted from the image forming apparatus, and determines whether the received apparatus identification information and the received consumables container identification information are stored in association with each other. When the information on the determination is affirmative, the image forming apparatus executes printing based on output source identification information including the apparatus identification information and the consumables container identification information on an output using the predetermined consumables.

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus that includes: a detecting unit configured to detect a user approaching the image forming apparatus; a communication unit configured to be capable of receiving the job from a mobile terminal via short-range wireless communication; and a controlling unit that controls a power supply such that electric power is supplied from the power supply to a first device and a second device in response to detection of the user by the detecting unit, and controls the power supply such that in response to designation of a job from the mobile terminal via the short-range wireless communication, the power supply continues supply of the electric power to the first device that is used for executing the designated job and the power supply stops supply of the electric power to the second device that is not used for executing the designated job.

A multifunctional peripheral (1) includes a communication part (22), a storage part (21), a free space determination part (25), a confidential document determination part (26), and a storage processing part (27). The free space determination part (25) determines that the storage part (21) contains a free space for storing print data, as a first storage condition. The confidential document determination part (26) determines that the print data is not a confidential document, as a second storage condition. The storage processing part (27) stores the print data in the storage part (21) in association with user information of a user terminal (23) when the first storage condition and the second storage condition are satisfied, and communicates with the user terminal (23) and stores the print data in the user terminal (23) when the first storage condition is not satisfied or when the second storage condition is not satisfied.
