PAPER TYPE IDENTIFICATION APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A paper type identification apparatus includes a passage configured to allow a sheet to be manually inserted thereinto, a reading sensor configured to read a surface of the sheet inserted into the passage and a controller configured to output a notification after reading a first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor. The notification is a notification to urge a user to read a second surface opposite to the first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor, and determine a type of the sheet based on a reading result of the first surface by the reading sensor and a reading result of the second surface by the reading sensor.
Image forming apparatus, and method of controlling image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeding unit storing a sheet, an image forming unit, a display unit, and one or more processors. The image forming unit forms an image on the sheet conveyed from the sheet feeding unit. The display unit displays a screen. The one or more processors perform control to cause the display unit to display a first sheet setting screen for setting sheet information about the sheet feeding unit on which a predetermined operation is performed based on the performance of the predetermined operation on the sheet feeding unit while a setting screen that prompts a user to make a copy-related setting is displayed. Where the predetermined operation is performed while a second sheet setting screen for setting sheet information about the sheet feeding unit is displayed, the one or more processors cause the display unit not to display the first sheet setting screen.
MANUAL MEDIA SHEET INSERTION AT DUPLEX REVERSAL POINT OF DUPLEX PRINTING PATH
A media sheet is manually inserted at a duplex reversal point of a duplex printing path of the printing device. The media sheet is advanced through the duplex printing path. As the media sheet advances through the duplex printing path, the media sheet is printed on, and the printed media sheet output from the printing device.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording medium and an image forming apparatus body in which the image forming unit is provided, and on which a first manual feeding tray and a second manual feeding tray having a configuration different from the first manual feeding tray are selectively mountable at a same mounting position.
FEEDING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A feeding device includes a feeding device body of which a downstream end portion in a feeding direction, in which a material to be fed is fed, is mounted on a mounting portion, and that is openable and closable between a closed position where an upstream end portion is positioned above the downstream end portion and an open position where the upstream end portion is positioned on a side of the downstream end portion, a stacked portion that is provided on the feeding device body and on which the material to be fed is stacked in the open position, a detection unit that has a detection member hanging down to a downstream end portion of the stacked portion in the open position, moves to a downstream side in the feeding direction as the detection member is pressed by a downstream end portion of the material to be fed stacked on the stacked portion, and detects a stack of the materials to be fed on the stacked portion, and a restriction unit that restricts movement of the detection member to the downstream side in the feeding direction in the closed position.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming unit forms an image on a sheet. A sheet feed unit supplies the sheet to the image forming unit. A sheet tray is provided in the sheet feed unit. The sheet is placed on the sheet tray. An elevating plate is arranged on the sheet tray. The elevating plate can be ascended and descended between a descended position where the sheet is set and an ascending position higher than the descended position. A moving member can move between a first position in which the elevating plate is arranged in the descended position and a second position in which the elevating plate can move to the ascending position. A shielding member is interlocked with the ascending and descending operation of the elevating plate. The shielding member shields the moving member when the elevating plate is located at the descended position.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
The image forming apparatus includes a side panel and a manual feed tray that is rotatable and installed on the side panel. The side panel includes an opening portion through which a sheet placed on the manual feed tray passes when the sheet is fed into the image forming apparatus. The manual feed tray includes an end cursor that is movable, and a guide portion that guides movement of the end cursor in a direction perpendicular to a rotational center of the manual feed tray. The opening portion is sized to accommodate the end cursor. When the opening/closing angle of the manual feed tray with respect to a horizontal direction exceeds a predetermined angle, the end cursor moves along the guide portion by gravity to a position where the end cursor can be accommodated in the opening portion.
Sheet holder, sheet feeding device incorporating the sheet holder, and image forming apparatus incorporating the sheet holder
A sheet holder includes a regulator, a rotary body, a detection target, a rotational position detector, and a biasing body. The regulator moves in directions to approach and separate from an end portion of a sheet. The rotary body has a contact portion and rotates according to movement of the regulator. The detection target is attached to the rotary body, has a contact target portion, and rotates together with the rotary body by contacting of the contact portion of the rotary body with the contact target portion of the detection target in a rotational direction of the rotary body. The rotational position detector detects a rotational position of the detection target. The biasing body applies a biasing force between the rotary body and the detection target to maintain a contact state of the contact portion of the rotary body and the contact target portion of the detection target.
SHEET CONVEYING APPARATUS
The present invention is to provide a configuration facilitating removal of a sheet stopped on a conveying belt. In a sheet conveying apparatus that conveys a sheet using a conveying belt and balls, a sheet may be jammed and stopped on the conveying belt. In this case, it is difficult for a user to take out the sheet through a take-out port if the sheet is nipped by conveying roller pairs disposed upstream and downstream relative to the conveying belt in a sheet conveying direction. Thus, conveying roller pairs and the conveying belt are operated such that the sheet, which is stopped on the conveying belt and hence should be taken out through the take-out port, is brought into a state of being nipped only by the conveying belt and balls.
SHEET CONVEYING APPARATUS
The present invention is to provide a configuration facilitating removal of a sheet stopped on a conveying belt. Regulating guides are disposed on both sides of a conveying belt in a sheet width direction Y and can guide both end edges in the sheet width direction of a sheet S conveyed while being nipped by the conveying belt and the balls. A take-out port is provided on the side closer to the regulating guide in the sheet width direction Y, through which a sheet stopped on the conveying belt is taken out. A guide moving part moves the regulating guides. When a sheet is stopped on the conveying belt, the guide moving part moves the first and second regulating guides such that the regulating guide is retracted to a position at which a support surface does not support a first sheet end edge.
