An image forming device includes an image carrier, a transfer member, a fixing device, a conveyance member, and a controller. The transfer member forms a transfer nip that transfers an image carried on the image carrier to a recording medium. The fixing device fixes the image on the recording medium. The conveyance member is located downstream of the transfer member in a conveyance direction of the recording medium and feeds the recording medium to the fixing device. The controller variably controls position of the conveyance member.

The command determining unit determines the command speed based on a value corresponding to a rotation speed of a rotor of the first motor.

The separating member includes a guide surface to guide the medium, wherein the guide surface is arranged at an angle such that a distance from the guide surface to a conveyance reference plane becomes shorter as proceeding in the medium conveyance direction, the conveyance reference plane being a virtual plane extending the conveyance surface.

The controller is configured to, in a case of switching the image forming apparatus to a standby state in which the image forming apparatus is ready to start an image forming operation and stands by for input of an image forming job, execute preheating in which the fixing unit is preliminarily heated, and cause the driving portion to rotate the conveyance belt while the preheating is executed.

A sheet feeding device includes a sheet feeding roller, a following roller, a rotational speed detection part, and a control part. The rotational speed detection part is configured to detect a rotational speed of the following roller. The control part is configured to accelerate a rotation of the sheet feeding roller and to adjust a sheet interval. The control part obtains a rotational rate of the following roller to the sheet feeding roller based on the rotational speed of the following roller, obtains an actual linear velocity of the sheet based on the rotational rate of the following roller and a theoretical linear velocity of the sheet after accelerating the rotation of the sheet feeding roller, and then adjusts the sheet interval based on the actual linear velocity of the sheet.
