An example cleaning station for a liquid electrophotographic printer is described. The cleaning station has a first cleaning member, a second cleaning member, and a biasing member. The cleaning station is configured to move between a first position and a second position with respect to a photo imaging member of the printer. In the first position, the first cleaning member is arranged to remove particles from the photo imaging member of the printer and the second cleaning member is arranged to apply a force to a layer of liquid applied to the photo imaging member. In the second position, the biasing member is configured to cause the second cleaning member to contact the first cleaning member to clean the second cleaning member.

Image forming apparatus executing maintenance mode for diagnosing cleaning member

In an image forming apparatus, an image bearing member and a cleaning member are in contact with each other to form a collection nip. A conveyance member is in contact with the image bearing member to form a conveyance nip. The controller executes a maintenance mode including a toner supply process, an output process, and a sheet feeding process. The toner supply process supplies at least part of the image bearing member with a predetermined amount of toner. The output process controls a circuit to output the cleaning voltage to the cleaning member. The sheet feeding process controls the feeding member to start feeding the sheet so that the sheet passes the conveyance nip in coincidence with the at least part of the image bearing member passing the conveyance nip after the at least part of the image bearing member has once passed the collection nip.

Electrical connection for an imaging component of an electrophotographic image forming device

An assembly for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one example includes a rotatable roll having an electrically conductive shaft. An electrically conductive bracket is positioned adjacent to the roll and in a spaced relationship from the roll along a length of the roll. An electrical contact is positioned to receive an electrical voltage from a power supply of the image forming device. The electrical contact is electrically connected to a first end portion of the shaft of the roll by way of a first electrical path and to a second end portion of the shaft of the roll by way of a second electrical path to transfer the electrical voltage to the roll. The bracket forms a portion of the second electrical path such that the electrical voltage transferring from the electrical contact to the second end portion of the shaft of the roll passes through the bracket.

An image forming apparatus includes an image former and a hardware processor. The image former includes, an image carrier; a developer; a conductive rotating member; and a voltage applier which applies voltage to the rotating member. The hardware processor executes an attached material detection mode which detects material attached to a surface of the rotating member. In such mode, the hardware processor controls the voltage so that the developing bias is a value between a surface potential in a region of the image carrier in contact with a portion in which attached material exists on a surface of the rotating member if a reference voltage is applied by the voltage applier, and a surface potential in a region of the image carrier in contact with a portion in which the attached material does not exist on the surface of the rotating member if the reference voltage is applied.

Photoconductor refreshing cycles

A photoconductive layer in an image forming apparatus is refreshed. A first refreshing cycle is performed, including applying, at a first refresh unit, a first refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer and applying, at a second refresh unit, a second refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer. A second refreshing cycle is performed, including applying, at the first refresh unit, a third refresh voltage to the photoconductive layer, the third refresh voltage being higher than the first refresh voltage and higher than the second refresh voltage. Each of the first and second refreshing cycles electrically bias the photoconductive layer to a refresh polarity opposite to a print polarity applied during a print routine of the image forming apparatus.
