There are demands for stable connections of contact points between a process cartridge, including a development device, and an image forming device. A development contact point, a first contact point, and a second contact point are disposed in this order on the inside in a perpendicular direction with respect to an insertion direction in which a development device is inserted into an image forming apparatus.

A cartridge includes a photosensitive drum, the movable member movable relative to the photosensitive drum to control an inclination angle of a drive transmission member. The movable member is movable between a first position for reducing an inclination angle of the drive transmission member relative to the photosensitive drum and a second position retracted from the first position. By this, driving connection can be smoothly carried out.

In an image forming apparatus according to the present disclosure, when a conveyance unit is closed, a second end is disconnected from a ground contact, and a third end makes an electrical connection with a contact spring. When the conveyance unit is opened, the second end makes an electrical connection with the ground contact, and the third end is disconnected from the contact spring.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of photosensitive members, a support frame configured to support the plurality of photosensitive members, and an electric unit including a first electric board and a second electric board, and fixed to the support frame. The electric unit includes a first supporting portion extending in an arrangement direction of the plurality of photosensitive members, a second supporting portion extending in the arrangement direction, and a board holding portion configured to hold the first electric board and the second electric board and bridged between the first supporting portion and the second supporting portion. The first electric board is positioned in the image forming apparatus more inward than at least one of the first supporting portion or the second supporting portion in a direction orthogonal to the arrangement direction and a vertical direction.

The present disclosure provides a consumable chip, a consumable, an image-forming apparatus, a communication method, and a detection method. The consumable chip includes the first connection terminal, configured to be connected to the first connection pin when the consumable is installed on the image-forming apparatus; the second connection terminal, configured to be connected to the second connection pin when the consumable is installed on the image-forming apparatus; the power supply circuit, configured to convert the first input signal and the second input signal received through the first connection terminal and the second connection terminal into a DC voltage to supply power to the microcontroller; the demodulation circuit, configured to demodulate the first input signal and the second input signal to obtain demodulated signals; and the modulation circuit, configured to send modulation signals to the image-forming control unit through the first connection terminal and the second connection terminal.

A drawer includes: a photosensitive drum; a drawer frame; a connector; a drawer memory; and a holder. The photosensitive drum is rotatable about a drum axis extending in a first direction. The drawer frame holds the photosensitive drum. The drawer frame has an outer surface. The connector has a plurality of terminals arrayed in an arraying direction. The drawer memory stores information on the photosensitive drum. The drawer memory is electrically connectable to at least one of the plurality of terminals. The holder is positioned at the outer surface of the drawer frame and holds the connector. The holder is movable relative to the drawer frame in the arraying direction of the plurality of terminals.

A cartridge includes: a housing; a storage medium; and a holder. The storage medium has an electrical contact surface. The holder is movable relative to the housing. The holder includes: a first holder member; and a second holder member. The first holder member has a pawl portion and is configured to hold the electrical contact surface. The second holder member includes a corner portion. The pawl portion is engageable with the corner portion. The second holder member has a through-hole. An engagement part of the pawl portion engaging with the corner portion is accessible from outside the second holder member through the through-hole in a state where the pawl portion engages with the corner portion.

An image forming apparatus includes a cartridge provided with a memory. The apparatus main body includes a frame, a movable electric contact unit including an electric contact portion contacting with the memory, and a holding member holding the electric contact portion and including an urging member urging the electric contact unit toward the memory in a mounted state of the cartridge, and a positioning portion positioning the electric contact unit in an unmounted state of the cartridge.

An image forming apparatus to which a cartridge including a cartridge substrate is attachable includes a main body electrical substrate, a main body ground terminal connected to the main body electrical substrate and configured to take a ground voltage, a first main body terminal connected to the main body electrical substrate and configured to transmit one of a power supply voltage, a data signal that indicates information, and a synchronization signal, a second main body terminal connected to the main body electrical substrate and configured to transmit remaining two of the power supply voltage, the data signal, and the synchronization signal.

The cartridge substrate includes a cartridge ground terminal connected to the main body ground terminal, a first cartridge terminal connected to the first main body terminal, and a second cartridge terminal connected to the second main body terminal.
