An image forming apparatus includes a main body, a drum cartridge removably attached to the main body, and a belt unit removably attached to the main body. The main body includes a drum power supply, a belt power supply, and a controller configured to start supplying power from the drum power supply to a drum memory of the drum cartridge, start supplying power from the belt power supply to a belt memory of the belt unit, stop supplying the power from the drum power supply to the drum memory after starting supplying the power from the drum power supply to the drum memory, and stop supplying the power from the belt power supply to the belt memory after starting supplying the power from the belt power supply to the belt memory.

A transfer belt unit mountable to and demountable from an apparatus main body of an image forming apparatus, the transfer belt unit including: a transfer belt being in contact with a photosensitive drum of a drum cartridge of the image forming apparatus in a state where the transfer belt unit is mounted to the apparatus main body, the transfer belt being configured to transfer a toner image on the photosensitive drum to a sheet conveyed between the photosensitive drum and the transfer belt and to convey the sheet conveyed between the photosensitive drum and the transfer belt toward a fixing unit of the image forming apparatus in the state where the transfer belt unit is mounted to the apparatus main body, and a belt memory in which information about the transfer belt unit is stored.

An image forming apparatus includes an main body, a processing unit, and a pressing member. The main body includes a transfer belt wound around a plurality of rollers. The processing unit can be inserted into and removed from the main body. The processing unit includes a drum that faces the transfer belt in a state of being inserted into the main body. The processing unit forms an image on the surface of the drum. The pressing member is provided on the main body and includes a contacted portion and a contacting portion. The contacted portion comes into contact with the processing unit when the processing unit is inserted into and removed from the main body. The contacting portion comes contact with the transfer belt due to contact with the processing unit to push the transfer belt in a direction away from the processing unit.

A toner cartridge according to one embodiment includes a body having a reservoir for storing toner and a rotatable developer roll mounted on the body and in fluid communication with the reservoir. A portion of an outer surface of the developer roll is exposed along a front of the body for supplying toner from the reservoir to a corresponding photoconductive drum on an imaging unit when the toner cartridge is installed on the imaging unit in an operative position of the toner cartridge relative to the imaging unit. A first engagement member positioned on a rear of the body is configured to engage a corresponding second engagement member on the imaging unit when the toner cartridge is installed on the imaging unit to retain the toner cartridge in a storage position of the toner cartridge relative to the imaging unit with the developer roll spaced away from the photoconductive drum.

A transfer belt unit includes a belt frame, a transfer belt, a storage element, an electrical contact surface, a pressing member, and a holder. The storage element stores therein information on the transfer belt. The electrical contact surface is electrically connected to the storage element. The pressing member presses the electrical contact surface in a pressing direction. The holder is positioned at the belt frame and holds the electrical contact surface. The holder is movable relative to the belt frame in a direction crossing the pressing direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, an image forming unit, a detection unit, and a control portion. The detection unit includes a casing, an optical sensor, a shutter portion, a moving member, a groove portion, and a project portion. The optical sensor is disposed within the casing facing the image bearing member to detect the toner image and comprises a light emitting portion emitting light to the image bearing member through the opening portion and a light receiving portion receiving the light reflected from the image bearing member. The shutter is configured to open/close the opening portion as the project portion moves in a direction intersecting with the predetermined direction as the moving member moves in the predetermined direction. The groove portion is disposed perpendicularly above an extension line of an optical axis of the light irradiated from the light emitting portion to the image bearing member.

An image forming apparatus includes a chassis having an opening, a cover, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt, a primary-transfer member, a secondary-transfer roller, a cleaner device, an external-sheet inlet, a waste toner container, a connector, and a conveying roller, which is arranged within the feeding path to feed the recording sheet inserted through the external-sheet inlet in the feeding path. The conveying roller is mounted on the waste toner container and removable from the chassis along with the waste toner container.

A cam driver includes a support, a cam, a motor, and a retracting torque applicator. The support supports an object. The cam moves the support. The motor rotates the cam and maintains a position of the cam. The retracting torque applicator applies torque to the cam in a direction to move the object away from a counter object that faces the object.

In one example a method comprises moving, by a processor, a photoreceptor of a print apparatus. The photoreceptor is movable between a fully engaged position in which the photoreceptor is to engage a transfer member of the print apparatus to transfer an image from the photoreceptor to the transfer member and a fully disengaged position in which the photoreceptor is remote from the transfer member. The method comprises moving, by a processor, the photoreceptor to an intermediate position between the fully engaged and fully disengaged positions. The method comprises engaging, by a processor, a cleaning system of the print apparatus with the photoreceptor when the photoreceptor is in the intermediate position.

A jacket includes: a first layer that is on a cylinder body side when the jacket is attached to a rotating cylinder body; and a second layer that is a layer located on a side opposite to the cylinder body with respect to the first layer, has a hardness lower than that of the first layer, and does not exist at a position where at least one of end edges of the cylinder body in a rotation axis direction is located inward of the first layer in the rotation axis direction.
