An image forming apparatus includes a housing and a pair of cassette guides. The housing is provided with a cassette storage space and a unit storage space. The unit storage space is disposed above the cassette storage space and configured to slidably support an image forming unit. The housing has a pair of side plates arranged to be opposite to each other in a direction intersecting a sliding direction of the image forming unit. The pair of cassette guides is provided in the cassette storage space and arranged inside the pair of side plate. A guide rail part is formed by a gap between the side plate and the guide cassette arranged inside the side plate, and a top face of the cassette guide. A unit-side rail provided to the image forming unit is slidably engaged with the guide rail part.

An image forming apparatus includes an openable member rotatable relative to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus; and a supporting member connected between the main assembly of the image forming apparatus and the openable member configured to support the openable member when the openable member is opened. The supporting member includes a first arm member and a second arm member which are slidable relative to each other, a pinion provided on the first arm member, a viscous damper mounted on a rotation shaft of the pinion, a rack provided on the second arm member and engaged with the pinion. By opening the openable member, relative slide movement is caused between the first arm member and the second arm member so that the pinion engaged with the rack rotates and a braking force is produced by the viscous damper.

A damper mechanism has first and second rail members, a biasing member, and a slide member. The first rail member is fixed inside the opening/closing member along the up/down direction, and has an oblong guide hole formed therein extending along the longitudinal direction. The second rail member has fixed to a top end part thereof an engaging pin inserted through the guide hole, and has a bottom end part swingably supported on the apparatus main body. The biasing member biases the first and second rail members in a direction in which these approach each other. The slide member is made of resin fixed to the engaging pin, slides while in contact with the first rail member and the opening/closing member, and prevents contact between the engaging pin and an inner circumferential rim of the guide hole.

Provided is an opening/closing unit including a cover member and a conveying unit. The cover member is provided to one side surface of an apparatus main body so as to open and close a sheet conveying path. The conveying unit is provided inside of the cover member in the apparatus main body. The sheet conveying path includes a first conveying path formed between the conveying unit and the apparatus main body, and a second conveying path formed between the conveying unit and the cover member. When an operating lever of the cover member is rotated to a second position, opening operation of the cover member is enabled. When the operating lever is rotated to a first position in a state where the cover member is opened, the conveying unit rotates with respect to the cover member so that the second conveying path is opened.

An image forming apparatus includes an output unit to which a recording medium on which an image has been formed is output, the output unit including an output unit body, and an extension portion that is disposed on the output unit body so as to be extendable from the output unit body in an output direction of the recording medium, the extension portion including a handle portion that is recessed in a direction away from a back surface of the recording sheet so as allow a finger to be hooked in a direction in which the extension portion is extended in the output direction of the recording medium, the back surface being a surface that is in contact with the output unit body, and a protrusion that protrudes toward the back surface of the recording medium from the extension portion.

A sheet processing apparatus has a main body with an insertion slot for a sheet cassette. The sheet cassette has a moveable pin member. A housing in the main body includes a lever partially rotatable about a first axis. The lever has a pin engagement portion at an end of the lever that rotates about a second axis and has an engagement groove into which the pin member can be inserted from a first pin engagement position and a second pin engagement position when the lever has rotated about the first axis. An elastic member applies a force to the lever to rotate the lever toward the insertion direction of the cassette. The housing includes a chassis having a guide groove extending along the insertion direction. The guide groove includes an inclining portion that is inclined with respect to the insertion direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a moving member that is movable between a first position and a second position different from the first position, first stop member that is disposed corresponding to the first position and comes into contact with the moving member to stop the moving member in the first position, a second stop member that is disposed corresponding to the second position and comes into contact with the moving member to stop the moving member in the second position, a first shock absorber dial is disposed in at least one of the moving member and the first stop member, and absorbs impact at a time of contact, and a second shock absorber that is disposed in at least one of the moving member and the second stop member, and absorbs impact at a time of contact.

An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a fixing unit including a fixing roller, a sheet ejection tray, a switchback roller, a re-feeding roller, a first frame, a second frame, a first motor, a first transmission mechanism, a second motor, and a second transmission mechanism. The switchback roller is configured to rotate in a forward direction to convey a sheet to the tray and in a reverse direction to convey the sheet back toward the photosensitive drum. The first motor and the first transmission mechanism are disposed to the first frame. The first transmission mechanism is configured to transmit the drive force from the first motor to the fixing roller. The second motor and the second transmission mechanism are disposed to the second frame. The second transmission mechanism is includes a clutch mechanism configured to intermittently transmit the drive force from the second motor to the re-feeding roller.

A medium transportation apparatus includes a transportation portion for transporting a medium; a first structure unit for forming a first transportation path to guide and transport the medium in a first direction from an upstream side in a medium transportation direction toward a downstream side in the medium transportation direction; and a second structure unit for forming an accommodation space to accommodate a part of the first structure unit. The first structure unit includes a first region disposed outside the accommodation space on the downstream side in the medium transportation direction and a second region disposed inside the accommodation space on the upstream side in the medium transportation direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a fixing unit, a door for accessing the fixing unit and a member positioned on an upstream side of the fixing unit in a conveyance direction of the recording material, a conveyance path for a recording material having a length in the conveyance direction equal to or longer than a predetermined length, and a control unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a recording material. The fixing unit fixes the formed image on the recording material at a nip portion. The recording material with fixed image is conveyed on the conveyance path. In a case where a predetermined recording material is conveyed to the conveyance path when a length of the predetermined recording material in the conveyance direction is shorter than the predetermined length, the control unit stops conveyance of the nipped predetermined recording material at the nip portion.
