An organic photoconductor includes a cylindrical body having a surface on which an electrostatic latent image is to be formed, and an optical tag provided on an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical body. The organic photoconductor may be included in a development cartridge for an image forming apparatus.

A developer container includes a memory device with a first marker; and a main body with a second marker, the main body being configured to accommodate a developer. The memory device is attached to the main body such that both the first marker and the second marker are visually recognized.

A cartridge attachable to and detachable from a main body of an image forming apparatus includes a frame. A photosensitive member is rotatably supported by the frame. An opening is provided in the frame that exposes the photosensitive member. A cover member is detachably attached to the frame to cover at least part of the opening. A flexible sheet member having handling caution information displayed thereon is attached to the cover member on one end portion thereof and separably attached to the frame on the other end portion thereof.

An image forming device includes an attachment part to which a toner unit having a fuse that can be molten by being supplied with an electric current is detachably attached, and a control part that applies each of a non-melting conduction signal corresponding to a first current supply state where the fuse is not molten and a melting conduction signal corresponding to a second current supply state where the fuse is molten to the fuse. The control part detects each of whether or not the fuse is molten by applying the non-melting conduction signal and whether or not the fuse is molten by applying the melting conduction signal. The control part determines whether or not the toner unit attached to the attachment part is a specific exchange unit on the basis of a detection result of whether or not the fuse is molten.

Disclosed in the present invention is a developing cartridge, which is detachably mounted in an image forming device, comprising: a housing; a developing roller rotatably supported by the housing, the developing roller rotating about an axis extending in a first direction; a supply roller rotatably supported by the housing and configured to convey a developer to the developing roller, the supply roller having a supply roller shaft made of metal; a driving gear disposed on a driving side of the housing in the first direction; and an electrode electrically connected to the developing roller shaft, comprising a first part, a second part, and an intermediate electrical connection part connecting the first part and the second part; wherein the first part is located on an opposite side of the driving side of the housing, the second part is located on the driving side of the housing, and the opposite side of the driving side and the driving side are opposite ends of the housing in the first direction; and the second part is simultaneously in contact with the supply roller shaft and the developing roller shaft.

An image forming apparatus includes a cartridge provided with a memory. The apparatus main body includes a frame, a movable electric contact unit including an electric contact portion contacting with the memory, and a holding member holding the electric contact portion and including an urging member urging the electric contact unit toward the memory in a mounted state of the cartridge, and a positioning portion positioning the electric contact unit in an unmounted state of the cartridge.

An image forming apparatus that has an image bearing member to be removably mounted to the image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer member, a toner detection unit, an exposure device, a forming unit, and a judgment unit. The judgment unit judges a mounting state of the image bearing member based on whether the toner detection unit detects a toner image transferred on a surface of the intermediate transfer member. When the image bearing member is mounted, first and second patterns of toner images are formed apart by a predetermined interval in a rotation direction of the intermediate transfer member. Where the toner detection unit detects the first and second patterns of toner images, the judgment unit judges that the image bearing member is mounted. Where one of the first and second patterns is not detected, the judgment unit judges that the image bearing member is not mounted.

An organic photoconductor includes a cylindrical body having a surface on which an electrostatic latent image is to be formed, and an optical tag provided on an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical body. The organic photoconductor may be included in a development cartridge for an image forming apparatus.

An example image forming apparatus includes a coupling device to perform coupling or decoupling between the image forming apparatus and a consumable, a sensor to sense an opening of a cover of the image forming apparatus, and a processor. When receiving an opening sensing signal of the cover from the sensor, the processor determines whether the consumable coupled to the image forming apparatus corresponds to a consumable access condition, and based on a result of determination, transmits a signal requesting decoupling of the consumable corresponding to the consumable access condition to the coupling device.

In an image forming apparatus, a consumable is mounted in the main casing. The consumable includes a consumable memory. A controller performs a consumable determination process to determine based on type information stored in a consumable memory whether the consumable mounted in the main casing is a special consumable. The controller performs a transmission process in a case where the consumable determination process determines that the consumable mounted in the main casing is the special consumable. The transmission process transmits via the communication interface a request to an external device which communicates with the image forming apparatus. The request is to cancel an agreement which is concluded for another image forming apparatus as a contract subject. The another image forming apparatus is different from the image forming apparatus.
