The image forming apparatus includes a main body, a pick-up device to pick up a printing medium, a developing device to develop an image on a side of the printing medium picked up by the pick-up device, a fixing device to fix the image developed on the side of the printing medium, a paper reverse device to guide the printing medium from a transfer direction of the printing medium passing through the fixing device, through a reverse path to the developing device and the fixing device, to develop and fix another image on other side of the printing medium, a discharging device to discharge the printing medium outside the main body, a post-processing device provided in the main body, and a post-processing path selection device rotatable to a first position to guide the printing medium through a discharge path to guide the printing medium passing through the fixing device to the discharging device and a second position to guide the printing medium from the discharge path to a post-processing path branched from the discharge path, to guide the printing medium to the post-processing device.

Provided is a powder pasting device for pasting powder on an image pattern formed on one main surface of a recording medium, the powder pasting device includes: a powder holding member having a powder holding surface holding powder by sticking; a powder supplying member that supplies powder to the powder holding surface; a rubbing member that rubs the powder holding surface to which powder has been supplied from the powder supplying member; and a facing member that is disposed at a position facing the powder holding surface of the powder holding member, sandwiches a recording medium having an image pattern functioning as an adhesive between the powder holding surface and the facing member, and thereby transfers the powder held on the powder holding surface by sticking onto the image pattern.

A fixing device includes a heating member, a pressing member, and a guide portion. The heating member heats a toner image and includes an elastic body. The pressing member presses a recording medium against the heating member. The guide portion does not contact with the heating member, and guides the recording medium ejected from a nip of the heating member and the pressing member. The distance from an exit of the contact portion to an end portion of the guide portion adjacent the contact portion differs in accordance with the position in the longitudinal direction of the heating member. The distance at a position at which the pressure between the heating member and the pressing member is low is longer than the distance at a position at which the pressure between the heating member and the pressing member is high.

A fixing device includes a heating member, a pressing member, and a guide portion. The heating member heats a toner image. At least a surface of the heating member includes an elastic body. The pressing member presses a recording medium against the heating member. The guide portion is in no contact with the heating member, and guides the recording medium, which has been ejected from a contact portion at which the heating member and the pressing member contact each other, toward the downstream side in the moving direction of the recording medium. The distance from an exit of the contact portion to an end portion of the guide portion on the side of the exit of the contact portion differs in accordance with the position in the longitudinal direction of the heating member. The distance at a position at which the pressure between the heating member and the pressing member is low is longer than the distance at a position at which the pressure between the heating member and the pressing member is high.

A charge eliminating apparatus includes a conveyance path configured to convey a sheet with an image formed thereon by an image forming apparatus, a non-contact charge eliminating device having an ion generation unit configured to generate ions and a control unit configured to control the ion generation unit, the non-contact charge eliminating device being configured to remove charges from the sheet conveyed in the conveyance path in a non-contact state, a surrounding member configured to surround the control unit, a separating portion configured to separate a first space where the control unit is surrounded by the surrounding member and a second space where the ion generation unit is disposed, and a fan configured to generate an air flow in the first space.

A charge-eliminating apparatus eliminates charge of a sheet on which an image is formed by an image forming apparatus. The charge-eliminating apparatus comprises a conveying member configured to convey the sheet conveyed from the image forming apparatus, a non-contact charge eliminating unit configured to eliminate charge of the sheet in a non-contact state with respect to the sheet conveyed by the conveying member, a frame configured to accommodate the conveying member and the non-contact charge eliminating unit, and an indicating portion configured to indicate indication contents indicating that maintenance is required for the non-contact charge eliminating unit based on a predetermined signal output from the non-contact charge eliminating unit.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet, a reversing unit configured to convey a sheet conveyed from the image forming unit in a first direction, stop the conveyance, and then convey the sheet in a second direction, which is opposite to the first direction, an image detection unit disposed to detect at least a portion of the image on the sheet stopped by the reversing unit, and a control unit configured to control the reversing unit and the image detection unit. The control unit is configured to detect the image on the sheet by the image detection unit while the sheet conveyance is stopped by the reversing unit.

A charge eliminating apparatus includes a conveyance path configured to convey a sheet with an image formed thereon by an image forming apparatus, a non-contact charge eliminating device having an ion generation unit configured to generate ions and a control unit configured to control the ion generation unit, the non-contact charge eliminating device being configured to remove charges from the sheet conveyed in the conveyance path in a non-contact state, a surrounding member configured to surround the control unit, a separating portion configured to separate a first space where the control unit is surrounded by the surrounding member and a second space where the ion generation unit is disposed, and a fan configured to generate an air flow in the first space.

A charge-eliminating apparatus eliminates charge of a sheet on which an image is formed by an image forming apparatus. The charge-eliminating apparatus comprises a conveying member configured to convey the sheet conveyed from the image forming apparatus, a non-contact charge eliminating unit configured to eliminate charge of the sheet in a non-contact state with respect to the sheet conveyed by the conveying member, a frame configured to accommodate the conveying member and the non-contact charge eliminating unit, and an indicating portion configured to indicate indication contents indicating that maintenance is required for the non-contact charge eliminating unit based on a predetermined signal output from the non-contact charge eliminating unit.

An image forming apparatus to which a cartridge that stores developer is removably attachable includes a photosensitive member on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, a rotary including a storage unit that stores the developer supplied from the cartridge, and a developing member that forms a developer image by developing the electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive member using the developer stored in the storage unit, a moving device that moves the cartridge between an attachment position at which the cartridge is inside the rotary and a displaced position at which the cartridge is outside the rotary, a controller that controls the moving device, and a reading unit that reads an image formed on a recording material. The reading unit is positioned such that the reading unit does not overlap a trajectory of the cartridge along which the cartridge moves from the attachment position to the displaced position.
