Variable data and direct marking of print media with high viscosity materials
An improved apparatus and method for printing directly onto Infra-Red (IR) transparent material (print media) such as Mylar using a method that is capable of using medium to high viscosity materials such as those needed for printed electronics. The proposed method would be able to print with variable data/imaging. A proposed method uses an IR receptor of which a print media is placed or passed over. Prior to irradiation the print media is coated with a sub-micron layer of dampening solution such as silicone oil that is then selectively evaporated off via a laser imaging device which passes IR energy thorough the dampening solution, print media and onto the receptor to evaporate dampening solution in areas that will be inked.
PRINTING USING COLOR CHANGEABLE MATERIAL
Systems and methods for printing data on a substrate including a color-changeable material are provided. One system includes a processing circuit and a device including an energy source. At least a portion of a printed publication is printed on the substrate using a commercial printing press based on fixed data. The device including the energy source is configured to add variable data to the substrate. The processing circuit is configured to receive the variable data and to control the energy source to change a color of the color-changeable material based on the variable data to provide at least a portion of the printed publication. The processing circuit is configured to control the energy source to change the color of the color-changeable material in-line with a flow of the substrate through one of a printing line, a finishing line, or a packaging line of the commercial printing press.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, an image former configured to form an image on the image bearing member, a transfer portion configured to transfer the image formed on the image bearing member onto a recording material, a conveyor configured to convey the recording material to the transfer portion, a contact portion provided upstream of the transfer portion in a conveyance direction of the recording material and having a contact member for grounding the recording material to be conveyed to the transfer portion, and at least one processor configured to control, in a case where the recording material is of a first paper type, the contact portion so that the recording material is grounded by the contact member.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS FOR FORMING IMAGE ON PRESSURE-BONDING PRINT
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion configured to form a toner image on a recording material; a fixing portion configured to fix the toner image, on the recording material, formed on the recording material by the image forming portion; an input portion configured to input information on the recording material; and a controller. In a case where the controller executes an operation in a first mode in which the toner image is formed on a pressure-bonded recording material bent and pressure-bonded so that one surface of the recording material becomes an opposing inner surface, the controller controls the fixing portion on the basis of first information on a basis weight of the pressure-bonded recording material and second information on a folding shape of the pressure-bonded recording material, which are inputted by the input portion.
