An image forming apparatus includes a powder holding member and a transfer member. The powder holding member holds a powder pattern constituted by powder on a surface. The transfer member constitutes a nip part for nipping a recording medium on which an image pattern is formed with the powder holding member, and pastes powder constituting the powder pattern to the image pattern at the nip part. The image forming apparatus also includes a powder supply member that supplies powder to the surface of the powder holding member, and an adhesion force of the powder to the conveyance member is smaller than an adhesion force of the powder to a part where the powder pattern is formed on the surface of the powder holding member.

Print control apparatus, print system, and medium which operate using gloss effect information

A print control apparatus includes a storage unit configured to store therein a plurality of surface-effect selection tables for respective pieces of recording medium information on a recording medium. Different types of same surface effects are registered in each of the surface-effect selection tables. The print control apparatus also includes a determining unit configured to determine a surface-effect selection table corresponding to a piece of recording medium information from the storage unit; an image data generating unit configured to generate image data based on the determined surface-effect selection table and based on gloss-control plane data in which a type of a surface effect to be applied to the recording medium and an area of the recording medium to which the surface effect is to be applied are specified; and an output unit configured to output the image data.

Whether a first heating region is actually a passing heating region or a non-passing heating region which a recording material does not pass through, is detected by the temperature detected by a temperature detecting portion, based on a difference between a detected temperature by a temperature detecting portion in a reference heating region, which is specified to a heating region including a conveyance reference position of the recording material, and a detected temperature in a first heating region which does not include the conveyance reference position and is specified to a passing heating region which the recording material passing through. In a case where it is determined that the first heating region is the non-passing heating region, a prevention control, to prevent overheat of the first heating region is performed in the heating processing of the recording material that passes the nip portion after the determination.

Image forming apparatus to suppress gloss unevenness

An image forming apparatus includes a reception unit to receive a job, heating and pressing rotary members to form a nip portion, and a spraying member having a nozzle and a cylinder. The nozzle discharges air to the heating rotary member and a recording material. During a period after the reception unit receives the job and before a leading edge of a first sheet of the recording material reaches the nip portion, the spraying member performs a spraying operation of spraying air in an amount greater than or equal to a predetermined amount. The air that the spraying member sprays on the first sheet of the recording material during the job is higher in temperature than the air that the spraying member sprays during the period after the reception unit receives the job and before the leading edge of the first sheet of the recording material reaches the nip portion.

POST-PROCESSING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM USING POST-PROCESSING DEVICE

A post-processing device includes a transport section that transports a medium holding an image formed using an imaging material and wax and having passed through a fixing section that performs heating and pressurization to fix the image on the medium, at a predetermined transport velocity by nipping the medium; and a rubbing section that is located upstream or downstream of the transport section in a transport direction of the medium and that rubs, in a case in which the medium transported by the transport section passes through the rubbing section, a surface of the medium such that a layer thickness of the wax held on the surface of the medium after passage is equal to or less than 0.15 m.

An image forming system includes: an image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium; a relay transporter that transports the recording medium on which the image is formed by the image forming apparatus; a post-processing apparatus including a collecting container that collects a recording medium, the post-processing apparatus performing post-processing on the recording medium transported by the relay transporter; and at least one processor configured to stop transport of a recording medium when a paper jam occurs in the post-processing apparatus and, if a remaining recording medium is present in the relay transporter when the paper jam is cleared and the transport of the recording medium is restarted, cause the remaining recording medium to be collected by the collecting container.
