An image forming system is described which is capable of assembling an output product which consists of sheets having uniform sheet widths by appropriately performing a trimming process even if the output product is made from a plurality of paper types. The image forming system consists of an image forming apparatus configured to form an image on a sheet; a finisher provided with a slit unit for trimming edges of sheets and capable of assembling an output product by joining the trimmed sheets, and a control unit for controlling the image forming apparatus and the finisher. When a book cover (standard paper type sheet) is supplied, the control unit trims the paper edges by a designated trimming width. Conversely, when a book body (non-standard paper type sheet) is supplied, the control unit trims the paper edges by a designated trimming width to which an offset amount is added.

The trim mark adder adds trim mark information to the image data so that a trim mark is formed at a trimming position of the sheet. The duplex alignment mark adder adds duplex alignment mark information to the image data so that a duplex alignment mark is formed in a margin area between an edge of the sheet and the trimming position on both sides of the sheet. The hardware processor performs a duplex alignment of the image data based on a result of scanning the duplex alignment mark.

The method includes receiving printing instructions, receiving finishing instructions, after printing, in order to form a stack of printed and finished sheets, the finishing instructions includes an instruction to create a new target stack edge extending in a direction of a stack height on each of the plurality of sheets, printing a mark on each sheet of a group of sheets of the plurality of sheets, the mark intended to hit the new target stack edge in a group of at least one target hit point, and finishing the plurality of printed sheets according to the finishing instructions to create a new actual stack edge. A plurality of actual hit points form a pattern on the new actual stack edge and comprises a continuous proportional indication for a degree of correctness of the printing and/or finishing operation.

Image layout

According to an example, a printing system may include a web layout module to access a set of images and generate a web layout of the set of images, in which the web layout is arranged in columns of same sized images, each column being arranged in sorted order of image size. The module may further add at least one of advertising material, a coupon, and customer information on a space of a column on which images do not extend a width of the web layout. The printing system may also include a print engine to print the set of images and the at least one of the advertising material, coupon, and customer information on a web of substrate in the generated print layout.

If the jammed sheet and the preceding sheet have been generated, the printing apparatus re-prints a plurality of images including an image of the jammed sheet on a sheet, the cutting apparatus cuts the re-printed sheet, and a sheet that includes the same image as the preceding sheet is discharged to a different discharge destination from that of the preceding sheet.

Image forming device and image forming method

Provided is a technique that can suitably form a cut line. According to one embodiment, an image forming device includes a line information generation unit and an image forming unit. The line information generation unit generates line information representing a cut line to cut out a main image formed on a recording medium. The image forming unit forms the main image with a non-decolorable material on the recording medium and forms the cut line represented by the line information with a decolorable material on the recording medium. The line information generation unit changes a level of curving of a curve included in the cut line, according to the recording medium.

An image forming apparatus includes: an apparatus main body; an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet; a fixing unit including a heating rotation body and a pressure rotation body that forms a nip portion between the heating rotation body and the pressure rotation body, and configured to fix the image onto the sheet; and a cutter disposed downstream of the fixing unit in a conveying direction of the sheet and capable of cutting the sheet. The cutter is capable of cutting the sheet at a center position of the sheet in the conveying direction. A distance by which the sheet is conveyed from the nip portion to the cutter is larger than half of a dimension of the sheet to be cut in the conveying direction.
