Image formation apparatus having intermediate transfer belt speed control
An image formation apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer belt that carries and conveys a developer image formed by an image formation section; a driver that conveys the intermediate transfer belt in a predetermined direction; a transfer device that transfers the developer image carried on the intermediate transfer belt onto a predetermined medium; a first detector that detects a belt conveyance speed, which is the speed of the intermediate transfer belt conveyed; a controller that controls the driver; a conveyer section that conveys the medium to the transfer device; and a second detector that detects a medium conveyance speed, which is the speed of the medium conveyed by the conveyer section. The controller controls driving of the driver on the basis of the belt conveyance speed and the medium conveyance speed.
Print media ejection
According to an example, to eject print media from an image forming apparatus, a variable page feed velocity of a first page of print media exiting a feed zone is detected. An acceleration value and a deceleration value based on the variable page feed velocity of the first page is calculated. The calculated acceleration is applied to a media movement component in the output zone when the entire first page has cleared a media sensor in the front of the output zone, and the deceleration is applied when the tail end of the first page is in a brake zone. In some examples, a second page of print media and a variable page feed velocity of the second page exiting the feed zone is detected, and the media movement component in the output zone is accelerated to match the variable page feed velocity of the second page.

An image forming apparatus includes an image formation unit, a detection unit, a storage unit, and a control unit. When the detection unit outputs a second output value when a second recording material, which is different from a first recording material is detected, in a state where the storage unit stores a first output value output by the detection unit upon detection of the first recording material, the control unit controls an image forming condition based on at least the first output value if a differential value between the first output value and the second output value is smaller than a predetermined threshold value and controls the image forming condition based on the second output value without using the first output value if the differential value is greater than the predetermined threshold value.

An image forming apparatus includes a black image forming portion, a color image forming portion, an intermediary transfer member, a transfer portion, and an executing portion capable of executing an operation in a color mode in which a color image is formed using the color image forming portion and the black image forming portion and an operation in a monochromatic mode in which a monochromatic image is formed using only the black image forming portion. The executing portion is capable of forming the monochromatic image in the operation in the monochromatic mode under application of a voltage to the black developing device. The voltage is applied under a voltage condition such that a line width is broader than a line width under a voltage condition inputted to the black developing device when the operation in the color mode is executed.

In a second mix job to be executed in the second mode and where the second recording material is to be conveyed subsequent to the initially conveyed first recording material, the speed control unit sets the conveyance speed of the first and second recording materials to the first speed based on the acquired grammage information.
Methods for retrying pick in an image-before-pick system
A method of operating an imaging device is disclosed. The imaging device is designed to start the imaging process before picking a sheet. During a pick retry, the device waits to start the imaging process until after the sheet is picked successfully. This method improves pick reliability and reduces wasted toner. An image-forming apparatus contains an external feeding tray on which a sheet is put, and a feeding roller and a sheet feeder that feed the sheet from the external feeding tray. A controller of the image-forming apparatus sets a first conveying speed and a second conveying speed that is slower than the first conveying speed, controls the sheet feeder to convey a second sheet, which has a longer length along a conveying direction thereof than the length of the external feeding tray, at the second conveying speed when the controller determines that a rear end of the second sheet projects from the external feeding tray, and hangs down from the external feeding tray based on the sheet information and controls a first sheet, which has a shorter length along a conveying direction thereof than the length of the external feeding tray, at the first conveying speed.
