An image forming apparatus to form an image on a recording material includes a photosensitive member, an exposure device to form a latent image on the photosensitive member, a tubular body defining a space in which at least a part of the exposure device is contained, and a support portion that supports the exposure device and is provided along a rotation axis direction of the photosensitive member in the space of the tubular body. The image forming apparatus further includes, in the rotation axis direction, a first side plate fixed to one end portion of the tubular body, and a second side plate fixed to another end portion of the tubular body. One support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the first side plate, and another support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the second side plate.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member, an acquiring portion, an applying portion, and a controller. When a transfer voltage is subjected to constant-voltage control so that the transfer voltage applied to the transfer member by the applying portion is substantially constant, in a case that the transfer voltage, when a toner amount used for a toner image is a first toner amount, is a first voltage, the controller controls the applying portion so that the transfer voltage is a second voltage lower in absolute value than the first voltage in a case that the toner amount is a second toner amount greater than the first toner amount. The acquiring portion acquires toner amount information on the toner amount for each toner image transferred onto a single recording material.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member, an acquiring portion, an applying portion, and a controller. When a transfer voltage is subjected to constant-voltage control so that the transfer voltage applied to the transfer member by the applying portion is substantially constant, in a case that the transfer voltage when a toner amount used for a toner image is a first toner amount is a first voltage, the controller controls the applying portion so that the transfer voltage is a second voltage smaller lower in absolute value than the first voltage in a case that the toner amount is a second toner amount ager greater than the first toner amount. The acquiring portion acquires toner amount information on the toner amount for each toner image transferred onto a single recording material.

An image forming apparatus includes: a photoconductor; an optical scanner configured to cause a plurality of light beams to scan simultaneously on a surface of the photoconductor; a pixel size calculator configured to calculate a pixel size corresponding to a scanning position of each of the light beams; a light-quantity value quantization converter configured to quantize a light-quantity value corresponding to the scanning position of each of the light beams; a storage configured to store conversion data for conversion from image density data into a light beam driving signal; a signal converter configured to perform, with the conversion data, conversion from the image density data into the light beam driving signal; a selector configured to select the conversion data, according to the pixel size calculator and the light-quantity value quantization converter; and a light source configured to emit the plurality of light beams, based on driving data obtained through conversion by a driving data converter with the conversion data selected by the selector, in which a number of pieces of the conversion data correspond to a number resulting from a number of obtainable pixel size values×a number of obtainable light-quantity quantized values×a number of light beams.

A part of a cover is provided in a position farther from the circumscribed circle than the outer wall so as to close the space, when the optical scanning device is viewed in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the rotating shaft.

The optical scanning apparatus further includes a first phase control unit that performs phase control of the first rotating polygonal mirror based on a first detection signal output from a first detection unit and a first target phase, and a second phase control unit that performs phase control of the second rotating polygonal mirror based on a second detection signal output from a second detection unit and a second target phase, which is set with respect to the first target phase.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a rotatable photoconductor, a laser light source configured to output a laser beam according to an image, a polygon mirror positioned to reflect the laser beam while rotating and cause the laser beam to be incident on the photoconductor along a main scanning direction to form an electrostatic latent image, a photodetector configured to detect the laser beam reflected by the polygon mirror, a developer, a transfer mechanism, and a processor. The processor (a) controls the laser light source such that a light emission intensity of the laser light source is constant when the laser beam is incident on the photodetector, regardless of a rotation speed of the polygon mirror and (b) controls the output timing of the laser beam based on a detection result of the photodetector.
