The image forming apparatus further includes, in the rotation axis direction, a first side plate fixed to one end portion of the tubular body, and a second side plate fixed to another end portion of the tubular body. One support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the first side plate, and another support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the second side plate.

An image display apparatus includes a display section that displays an image, a detection section that detects a direction of the face of a user, and a change section that changes an image to be displayed on the display section from an image for a first direction to an image for a second direction, the image for the first direction and the image for the second direction being images having an identical attribute, in a case where the direction of the face of the user, which is detected by the detection section, is changed from the first direction to the second direction.

In an optical scanning device, an outer wall closest to a circumscribed circle of a rotating polygon mirror has a space in a position facing to a position of a reflection surface of the rotating polygon mirror in an axial direction of a rotating shaft. A part of a cover is provided in a position farther from the circumscribed circle than the outer wall so as to close the space, when the optical scanning device is viewed in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the rotating shaft.

An image display apparatus includes a display section that displays an image provided on an apparatus main body, a detection section that detects a location of a user with respect to the apparatus main body, and a change section that changes an image to be displayed on the display section from an image for a first location to an image for a second location, the image for the first location and the image for the second location being images having an identical attribute, in a case where the location of the user, which is detected by the detection section, is changed from the first location to the second location.

An optical scanning apparatus includes a first rotating polygonal mirror that deflects a light beam such that the light beam scans a surface of a first image carrier, and a second rotating polygonal mirror that deflects a light beam such that the light beam scans a surface of a second image carrier. The optical scanning apparatus further includes a first phase control unit that performs phase control of the first rotating polygonal mirror based on a first detection signal output from a first detection unit and a first target phase, and a second phase control unit that performs phase control of the second rotating polygonal mirror based on a second detection signal output from a second detection unit and a second target phase, which is set with respect to the first target phase.

An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording material includes a photosensitive member; an optical scanning unit including a light source, an optical box, and a cover; and a fan. The fan is provided so that air from the fan directly impinges on the cover of the optical scanning unit. As seen in a direction perpendicular to a rotational axis of the rotatable polygonal mirror, a rib extending from a top plate of the cover toward an optical box side is provided at a portion of the cover in the neighborhood of a light beam emitting port of the optical scanning unit. The cover is provided with an extended portion extended from the rib in a light beam emitting direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device and a control device. The image forming device forms an image on a recording medium. The control device controls an image forming process. The control device includes circuitry. The circuitry changes a plurality of partial images in a target image into a certain state. The target image is to be formed on the recording medium. The plurality of partial images are to be formed peripheral to a plurality of pattern images. Each of the plurality of pattern images is to be formed at a certain position on the recording medium. The circuitry further controls the image forming device to form the target image including the changed plurality of partial images and the plurality of pattern images on the recording medium, and corrects a position of the target image based on a detection result of the formed plurality of pattern images.

An image forming apparatus to form an image on a recording material includes a photosensitive member, an exposure device to form a latent image on the photosensitive member, a tubular body defining a space in which at least a part of the exposure device is contained, and a support portion that supports the exposure device and is provided along a rotation axis direction of the photosensitive member in the space of the tubular body. The image forming apparatus further includes, in the rotation axis direction, a first side plate fixed to one end portion of the tubular body, and a second side plate fixed to another end portion of the tubular body. One support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the first side plate, and another support portion end portion in the rotation axis direction is fixed to the second side plate.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of photosensitive members; a scanner unit which includes light sources, a rotatable polygonal mirror, and a plurality of reflecting members; a fixing unit; and a discharge tray. The scanner unit is provided between the plurality of photosensitive members and the discharge tray with respect to a vertical direction, and a rotational axis of the rotatable polygonal mirror is inclined relative to the vertical direction. Selected ones of the laser beams emitted from the light sources are reflected toward a side with the fixing unit, and remaining ones of the laser beams are reflected toward an opposite side. Of the selected ones of the laser beams, the laser beam reflected toward the reflecting member provided at a position remotest from the rotatable polygonal mirror travels downward relative to a horizontal direction.

An image display apparatus includes a display section that displays an image provided on an apparatus main body, a detection section that detects a location of a user with respect to the apparatus main body, and a change section that changes an image to be displayed on the display section from an image for a first location to an image for a second location, the image for the first location and the image for the second location being images having an identical attribute, in a case where the location of the user, which is detected by the detection section, is changed from the first location to the second location.
