A fixing device includes: a preheating unit configured to heat a recording medium above the recording medium in a non-contact state with the recording medium, the recording medium being held at a leading end of the recording medium having a recording surface on which an image is transferred, the recording medium being transported such that the recording surface faces upward; a blowing unit disposed on a side opposite to the preheating unit with respect to the recording medium and configured to blow air onto the recording medium below the recording medium; a main heating unit disposed on a downstream side of the preheating unit in a transport direction of the recording medium and configured to contact the recording medium to heat the recording medium; a detection unit disposed on an upstream side of the preheating unit in the transport direction and configured to detect a transport posture of the recording medium; and a control unit configured to control the blowing unit based on a detection result of the detection unit to adjust an amount of air to be blown to the recording medium.

In an image forming device, a first fixing member has a roller. A second fixing member has a belt to form a nip together with the first fixing member. A pressure modifying mechanism modifies a nip pressure at the nip to selected one of a first nip pressure and a second nip pressure smaller than the first nip pressure. A controller drives the first motor to drive the roller and fixes the developer image on a sheet in a state that the nip pressure is the first nip pressure. The controller modifies the nip pressure from the first nip pressure to the second nip pressure while driving the first motor in a case where a final sheet among one or more sheets fixed according to a print job has passed the nip, and halts the first motor after the nip pressure is modified to the second nip pressure.

In an image heating device including a heater including a substrate, a first conductor provided on the substrate, a second conductor provided at a position different from the first conductor on the substrate in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the substrate, and a plurality of heat-generating resistors, each having the same shape and electrically connected in parallel between the first conductor and the second conductor on the substrate and a plurality of temperature detection elements for detecting a temperature of the heater and heating an image formed on a recording material by the heater, the plurality of temperature detection elements includes at least two temperature detection elements whose relative positions with respect to the closest heat-generating resistor in the plurality of heat-generating resistors are the same, respectively, the closest heat-generating resistors corresponding to the at least two temperature detection elements are independently controlled.

In this image heating device, a control portion controls the supply of electric power to a plurality of heating elements such that a first average temperature which is an average value of control target temperatures of heating regions included in a first region located closer to one end side than a central heating region in a direction orthogonal to a conveying direction of a recording material among a plurality of heating regions heated by a plurality of heating elements of a heater and a second average temperature which is an average value of control target temperatures of heating regions included in a second region located closer to the other end side than the central heating region are within a predetermined temperature range.

A first temperature detecting member is arranged in a longitudinal direction of a heater at a position that is (i) in a vicinity of an end adjacent to a second heating element among ends in the longitudinal direction of a first heating element, and (ii) separated from a reference passing position with respect to a recording material end that passes near a boundary between the first heating element and the second heating element by at least 2.5 mm toward a side close to a transport reference position, and a second temperature detecting member is arranged in the longitudinal direction at a position that is (iii) in a vicinity of an end adjacent to the first heating element among ends in the longitudinal direction of the second heating element, and (iv) separated from the reference passing position by at least 2.5 mm toward a side far from the transport reference position.

An image forming apparatus according to one embodiment includes a transport unit, an image forming unit, a heating member, a first pressurizing member, a second pressurizing member, and a processor. The transport unit is configured to transport a print medium. The image forming unit is configured to form a toner image on the print medium by a first toner. The first pressurizing member is configured to form a fixing nip for fixing with the heating member. The second pressurizing member is configured to form a decolorizing nip for decolorizing with the heating member. The processor is configured to control the heating member to the first temperature, allows the print medium on which the toner image is formed by the first toner to pass through the fixing nip, and allows the print medium on which an image is formed by a second toner, to pass through the decolorizing nip.

An image forming apparatus according to one embodiment includes a transport unit, an image forming unit, a heating member, a first pressurizing member, a second pressurizing member, and a processor. The transport unit is configured to transport a print medium. The image forming unit is configured to form a toner image on the print medium by a first toner. The first pressurizing member is configured to form a fixing nip for fixing with the heating member. The second pressurizing member is configured to form a decolorizing nip for decolorizing with the heating member. The processor is configured to control the heating member to the first temperature, allows the print medium on which the toner image is formed by the first toner to pass through the fixing nip, and allows the print medium on which an image is formed by a second toner, to pass through the decolorizing nip.
