An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device, a controller, and a storage. The fixing device includes a fixing part that fixes a toner image on a sheet, a heating part that heats the fixing part, and a detecting part that detects an actual temperature of the fixing part. The controller controls the actual temperature of the fixing part based on a target temperature of the fixing part and a cumulative deviation of the actual temperature of the fixing part. The storage stores a convergence value of the cumulative deviation. Every time a heating operation to the fixing part by the heating part is executed, the controller updates the convergence value of the cumulative deviation stored in the storage by a convergence value of the cumulative deviation of a latest heating operation.

Fixing belt having increased surface roughness

A fixing belt includes a base member containing a metal, a sliding layer containing a filler and formed on a base member inner side, and a separation layer formed on a base member outer side. Assume that (i) a sliding layer cross section is obtained by cutting the sliding layer along a sliding layer thickness direction and is divided into sections each having a length that is the same as a sliding layer thickness in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction, and (ii) a ratio of a filler area to a sliding layer area in each cross section sections is an area ratio. A period coefficient is calculated using the formula (Ave %?Min %)/Ave %, where an average of area ratios of filler areas in all the sections is Ave % and a minimum of the area ratios is Min %, and the calculated period coefficient is 0.6 or more.

Fixing device

A fixing device includes an endless belt, a rotatable pressing member, a pad member inside of the belt, and a sliding member held by the pad member and sliding on an inner circumferential surface of the belt in a nip. The rotatable pressing member nips and feeds a recording material in the nip in cooperation with the belt and fixes a toner image on the recording material by applying heat and pressure. The sliding member includes a base material layer on which a plurality of projections projecting toward the rotatable pressing member are formed on a side sliding with the belt and a sliding layer provided on an outer surface of the plurality of projections. A leading end of the plurality of projections is a plane and an average roughness (Ra) of the plane satisfies 0.13 ?m?Ra?1.67 ?m.

The first drive mechanism moves the cleaning roller to abut on or separate from the fixing member. The rotation drive unit can rotatingly drive the cleaning roller when the cleaning roller separates from the fixing member. The control unit performs control such that, in a case where a cleaning mode for cleaning the cleaning roller using the web is selected, the cleaning roller moves to separate from the fixing member and is rotatingly driven, and the web abuts on the cleaning roller, in order to clean the cleaning roller.

Fixing apparatus including cable restriction portion

A heater holder includes a restriction portion and a recessed portion. The restriction portion determines the position of a cable in the longitudinal direction of the heater. The recessed portion, against which a bare conductive portion of the cable is to be positioned, is provided at a position that is different from the position of the restriction portion as viewed in a direction intersecting with the longitudinal direction. A wire is joined to the bare conductive portion somewhere between the restriction portion and the recessed portion.

A fixing apparatus includes a holding member including a groove-like holding portion, a heater supported by the holding portion, a film rotatable around the heater, the film being configured to be heated by sliding on the heater and to heat a toner image on a printing material, and a gap filling member including, on an upstream side with respect to the heater in a direction in which the circumferential surface of the film moves, a first portion disposed between the heater and the holding member and a first contact portion connecting to the first portion and being in contact with the film. A second distance between the first portion and the holding member disposed upstream from the first portion and facing the first portion is smaller than a first distance between the heater and the first portion disposed upstream from the heater and facing the holding member.
