Image forming apparatus having sheet loop control
An image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit to fix a toner image which has been transferred onto a sheet by a transfer portion, a loop detector to detect an amount of a loop formed on the sheet at a position between the transfer portion and the fixing unit, and a controller to control a sheet conveyance speed of the fixing unit based on a detection result of the loop detector and control a rotational speed of rotary members to convey the sheet based on an area ratio which is a ratio of an area in which the toner image is formed by the transfer portion within a predetermined region set on a printing surface of the sheet onto which the toner image is transferred. The predetermined region is located at a position distant from a leading edge of the sheet more than a distance between the transfer portion and the fixing unit in the sheet conveyance direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing member and a pressing member forming a fixing nip therebetween, a heat generator, and a processor. The heat generator is disposed to heat a print medium passing through the fixing nip via the fixing member. The processor is configured to control the heat generator to start heating at a timing when a non-fixed image portion formed on the print medium is expected to reach the fixing nip, based on image data of an image to be fixed, a conveyance speed of the print medium, and an estimated heat capacity of the print medium.
FIXING DEVICE THAT CONTROLS ROTATION SPEED OF PRESS ROLLER, ACCORDING TO TEMPERATURE OF FIXING ELEMENT AT START OF JOB, TYPE OF RECORDING SHEET, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, AND ELAPSED TIME AFTER START OF PAPER FEED, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A fixing device includes: a fixing element; a heat source heating the fixing element; a press roller pressed against the fixing element, to form with the fixing element a nip region where a recording sheet passes; a driver device rotating the press roller; and a controller controlling the heat source to set a temperature of the fixing element to a predetermined target temperature, and controlling the driver device to set a rotation speed of the press roller to a predetermined target rotation speed. The controller determines the target rotation speed by adding a correction value to a normal rotation speed, based on the temperature of the fixing element at start of job, a type of the recording sheet, ambient temperature, and elapsed time from start of paper feed, and sets the rotation speed of the press roller to the target rotation speed.
Fixing device, image forming apparatus, and method for adjusting length of interposing and pressurizing region by fixing device
A fixing device according to an embodiment includes an endless belt, a pressure element, a heating member, an adjustment mechanism, and a controller. The pressure element conveys and presses a sheet to the endless belt. The heating member is on the inner side of the belt and has a heat generating element for heating the belt. The adjustment mechanism moves the heating member or the pressure element to adjust the nip width between the heating member and the pressure element. The controller controls the adjustment mechanism so that A>BN is satisfied, where A is the nip width during a fixing process in which a colored material is fixed to the sheet, B is the nip width during a heating process conducted before the fixing process, and N is the length of the heat generating element in the sheet conveyance direction.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes: a fixer including fixing rotation body and pressing rotation body with a fixing nip therebetween, and heats and presses a fed sheet through the fixing nip to fix a toner image on the sheet to the sheet; and a hardware processor making a velocity difference between respective surface velocities of the fixing rotation body and the sheet passing through the fixing nip during a high-gloss mode operation to adjust a gloss of the toner image on the sheet. The hardware processor performs a control so that an absolute value of a velocity difference between respective surface velocities of the fixing rotation body and the pressing rotation body in press-contact when the sheet does not pass through the fixing nip is less than one between respective surface velocities of the fixing rotation body and the sheet when the sheet passes through the fixing nip during the high-gloss mode operation.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD
An image forming apparatus according to an embodiment includes a fixing section that fixes a toner image formed on a sheet. A controller controls a preliminary rotation of the fixing section after execution of a first image forming job and before execution of a second image forming job. Conditions for the preliminary rotation include types of sheets used in the first image forming job and the second image forming job, respectively, and a number of sheets used in executing the first image forming job.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A control unit of the invention compares printing setting suitable for a determined type of a recording material and printing setting of the recording material input by a user, and in a case where a difference between the printing setting suitable for the determined type of the recording material and the printing setting of the recording material input by the user falls in a predetermined range, the control unit performs a printing operation in accordance with the printing setting of the recording material input by the user, and in a case where the difference is greater than the predetermined range, the control unit performs the printing operation by changing the printing setting of the recording material input by the user, which is used when the difference is smaller than the predetermined range.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, first and second rotatable members, a jam detecting portion, a detector, and a controller. When a sheet to be fed to a nip is a first sheet having a first length and a first width, the controller causes the first rotatable member rotating at a first speed to feed the first sheet. When the sheet is a second sheet having is a second length shorter than the first length and having the first width, the controller causes the first rotatable member rotating at a second speed slower than the first speed to feed the second sheet. The controller stops rotation of the first rotatable member in response to detection of the occurrence of a jam by the jam detecting portion.
