An image forming apparatus includes: a housing; a drawer; and first and second process cartridges attachable to the drawer. The first process cartridge includes a first drum cartridge including a first photosensitive drum and a first developing cartridge including a first developing roller. When attached to the first drum cartridge, the first developing cartridge is movable between a first position where the first developing cartridge is detachable from the first drum cartridge and a second position where the first developing cartridge is not detachable from the first drum cartridge. In a state where the first and second process cartridges are attached to the drawer at positions adjacent to each other, the first developing cartridge comes into contact with the second process cartridge during movement of the first developing cartridge from the second position to the first position before the first developing cartridge reaches the first position.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS FACILITATING DETACHMENT OF TONER CARTRIDGE FROM PROCESS CARTRIDGE ATTACHED TO HOUSING OF IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a top cover having an opening, a process cartridge attachable to the housing, a toner cartridge attachable to the process cartridge, and an interlocking mechanism. The top cover is pivotally movable between a first position closing the opening and a second position opening the opening. In a state where the toner cartridge is attached to the process cartridge, the toner cartridge is pivotally movable between an attachment/detachment position where the toner cartridge is attachable to and detachable from the process cartridge; and a fixed position where the toner cartridge is fixed to the process cartridge. The interlocking mechanism is configured to pivotally move the toner cartridge to the attachment/detachment position when the top cover is moved to the second position, and to pivotally move the toner cartridge to the fixed position when the top cover is moved to the first position.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a detachable unit, and a guide. The detachable unit is attachable to and detachable from the housing. The guide guides the detachable unit when the detachable unit is attached to or detached. The guide includes a first guide portion inclined downward to guide the detachable unit such that the detachable unit moves downward in a direction in which the detachable unit is detached. The detachable unit includes a positioning portion that protrudes in a direction in which the detachable unit is attached to the housing. The housing includes a unit positioner that engages with the positioning portion of the detachable unit at a position above the guide to position the detachable unit. The guide includes a second guide portion that extends from an upper end of the first guide portion toward a side of the housing in which the unit positioner is disposed.

An image forming apparatus, having an image forming device, a reversible roller rotatable in a first direction and a second direction, a motor, a switching assembly, is provided. The switching assembly has a planetary differential gear having an input gear, a first output gear, a second output gear, and a planetary gear; a first driving-force transmitter connecting the first output gear and the reversible roller; a second driving-force transmitter connecting the second output gear and the reversible roller; and a switcher. The switcher switches conditions of the switching assembly between a first condition, wherein the reversible roller is rotated in the first direction by the first output gear allowed to output the driving force to the first driving-force transmitter, and a second condition, wherein the reversible roller is rotated in the second direction by the second output gear allowed to output the driving force to the second driving-force transmitter.

An apparatus body of an image forming apparatus has a first guide portion having an inlet shape corresponding to an outer shape of an engagement portion provided in a cartridge when seen in an attachment direction of the cartridge to the apparatus body and guiding the engagement portion, a second guide portion for guiding a positioning target portion which is provided on the cartridge for positioning an attachment completion position of the cartridge with respect to the apparatus body, and a movable member being at a regulation position at which a guiding path of the positioning target portion by the second guide portion is blocked is immovable from the regulation position unless being pressed by the engagement portion.

In a case in which an image forming apparatus determines that a replaceable unit is replaced in a first state, in which removal of the replaceable unit is inhibited, the image forming apparatus performs control to switch from the first state to a second state, in which removal of the replaceable unit is allowed.

The first release processing portion releases regulation on removal of a developer storage portion when a storage amount of the developer stored in the storage portion is equal to or smaller than a second threshold smaller than a first threshold. The second release processing portion releases the regulation on the removal of the developer storage portion based on the remaining amount of the developer that is acquired when the storage amount of the developer stored in the storage portion is larger than the second threshold.

An image forming apparatus includes a housing, a drum cartridge, a developing cartridge including a developing roller and movable between a contact position and a spaced position, a first spacing member configured to move the developing cartridge between the contact position and the spaced position, a first cam configured to move the first spacing member, and a lock member movable between a lock position at which the photoconductive drum is locked to the housing and a lock releasing position at which the lock of the photoconductive drum with respect to the housing is released. The lock member is configured to move from the lock releasing position to the lock position by being pushed by the first spacing member.

A detachable container includes: a container body configured to be detachably attached to a receiving portion of an apparatus housing; a joining unit provided on the container body, the joining unit being configured to be rotatably joined with a joined unit provided on the apparatus housing; an operation unit having a rotation center coaxial with the joining unit, the operation unit being configured to perform a rotational operation for the joining unit; and a restraint unit provided coaxially with the rotation center of the operation unit, the restraint unit being configured to, when the container body is attached to the receiving portion of the apparatus housing, allow a rotation of the operation unit, and when the container body is not attached, to restrain the rotation of the operation unit.
